Hello,
We're taking an international flight from terminal 4 at 7 pm but my hotel checkout is at 1 pm and they can't hold our luggage. I was told the earliest we could check-in at the airport is 4 hours prior to flight. Is there a café or waiting area we could stay at until check-in?
Thank you
Mor

I am leaving for Jamaica early morning, 6 a.m flight. If I check in online, when is the latest I can arrive at JFK? Are duty free shops open at 5 in the mornings? Do I have to wait in line to get my bags checked?

It depends on the airline , but most of them still require to be at the terminal at least 1.5-2 hours in advance when you are checked on line. You still have to wait on the line(even not that bigger) to drop off your bags. I doubt it that any duty free are open that early.

Thanks!
Figure as much!

We too have the same dilemna re: duty free. Our flight leaves from terminal 4 @ JFK @ 6am. According to the airport's website, there are 2 duty free shops in that terminal which open at 5am. My question is does anyone know the cut off time for purchasing from duty free prior to boarding? Our last trip we had a layover in Atlanta with 45 mins to catch a connecting flight and we were told by duty free there, that there wasn't enough time for us to make our purchase. Better yet does anyone know if there is a contact number for the duty free shops located in terminal 4 @ JFK where i may call directly?

Can someone please tell me whether duty free shops are open at JFK at 4 or 5 in the mornings and if so which ones? I would like to purchase some cigarettes as well as liquor to take for family and friends. Also if I check in online, how long will it take me to clear customs etc? I am traveling with my 2 yo thus the questions.

Hi everybody. I am a Puerto Rican who haves a coming up trip to Puerto Rico on July 29,2010 and would like to know if it is true that I will be needing the NEW BIRTH CERTIFICATE to travel by the "Jetblue Airways" as on the fact that the original Birth Certificate wont be valid anymore by todays date?
Some are telling me that I don't and others that I do.
Can anyone help me out on this one/give me an answer please?

So long as you have a valid ID then you are good to go. I heard that they are trying/have been trying to extend the date/deadline to Sept. 30. When you return you can apply for it here.. You only need a birth certificate to apply for a passport or its renewal. You can still travel with any form of valid ID. Good luck!

To apply: Puerto Rico-born Americans can apply online at http://www.pr.gov or pick up applications at Casa Guadalupe, 143 Linden St., Allentown, or the Hispanic American Organization, 462 Walnut St., Allentown. Completed applications can be mailed to: 171 Quisqueya St., Hato Rey, PR 00917

What to bring: A valid ID photo, such as a passport or driver's license

Cost: $5. Veterans and those over 60 do not need to pay a processing fee.

I am arrving at JFK (domestic flight). Is there a pick up waiting area (Cell phone pick up), where I can call my sister to pick me up at arrival curbside?

Yes, located at Federal Circle, use the Van Wyck Expy. entry route and follow signs.
