hey all, I have been reading all the comments about long term parking - what is the safest place to park for a week? I read bad and good things about different lots, but they are from a year ago or so. I read about JFK long term parking and Smartpark???? We will be traveling with 2 little ones and luggage. thanks

jabenzo

I have stayed at all three facilities. The constant was SmartPark JFK was the cheapest and the best service by far. No problems with my car at pickup.

I could not find a complete map of the JFK airport. How long does will it take, to go from terminal 3 to terminal 4?

Anonymous (not verified)

Is the daily parking for terminal 8 open?

Anonymous (not verified)

SMARTPARK is a parking service near JFK. After reading some of the horror stories about JFK's own long term parking, I tried out Smartpark and found them to be cheaper, safe, and reliable. I was gone for 4 nights and it only cost $66, incl tax.

Anonymous (not verified)

Has anyone else used SmartPark. Is it safe?

Paid for parking with a credit card upon return from vacation. The attendant took my card behind the counter out of my sight. The next day my credit card number was used to make purchases of $1000. Thankfully, the credit card company shut down my card to prevent further illegal use. Never will use the Airpark again.

Is it true that you can use EZPass to pay for long term parking?

Anonymous (not verified)

yes

carlospa

Is the parking lot for the terminal 8 closed? If it is closed, which I need to go?

i lost my ticket for my long term parking- how much will i have to pay?

Anonymous (not verified)

they'd find out how long you've stayed. they have security that accounts for every car parked. this is to protect them from people who parked for more than a day, and think they can pay only for a day, by lying and saying they lost the ticket.

klattu

How high can the roof be to enter this area?
I will have luggage on roof and need to know if it will clear.

Long term parking is outdoors so you won't have a problem.

Can anyone recommend a hotel that has overnight parking and will shuttle us to & from the airport?

Anonymous (not verified)

Check out www.buyreservations.com very good service.

Anonymous (not verified)

None of the hotels seem to allow you to keep your car ther unless you are staying at the hotel for the duration.

Anonymous (not verified)

does anyone know if there is an additional charge to part an SUV? Also does the $18 per day include tax?

Anonymous (not verified)

Is the parking lot across from terminal 8 open. If it is open can you park there for 7 days.

AIrPark JFK
DO NOT PARK HERE!!!! after being stranded at the airport for 45 minutes we had to take cabs to the lot to get our car. Chris, the manager, was sleeping when we arrived at 1130am while phones were ringing off the hook. My car was covered in bird crap because they park your car under the billboards. Very rude, disrespectful, and disgusting individuals. I would have rather walked from Philadelphia than park at these scammers lot

Eric (not verified)

Good to know. Note that AirPark is a different lot than the official long-term lot where you park yourself there is monorail service to the terminals. Very convenient the one time I used it.

Anonymous (not verified)

is there an additional charge for SUVs?

Satelite antenna from car top stolen at the long term JFK lot sometime between Wednesday the 11th at 3:15 pm and Saturday the 14th at 7:15 AM

(A-12 row of lot.)
Use the long term lot several times a year; always thought security was good. Now I wonder.

Need to be @ Jet Blue Termial by 7am...where is the best place to long term park on JFK property...Thanks

Hi. I have never been to Terminal 8 (usually use Terminal 7) and I am very much worried after looking at the map on this website which provides that parking near Terminals 8 & 9 are closed. Is it really closed? If yes, is there any suggestion which parking lot to use?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I am parking my car at jfk airport how long will it take me to get to Terminal 4? and is the air train close by?

Anonymous (not verified)

I used it many times & it is extremely efficient and quick to get to any terminal. 10-12 min max incl wait time for the tram. Tram is very close to the long term paking facility. The parking lot actually surrounds the tram entrance.

Dont park at Avistar. I returned from a weekend trip to find that my GPS and bluetooth were missing from the glove compartment. It was my first time using them and the guy who parked the car initially said my car and stuff were safe. I stayed and called the police to make a report. While i was waiting the superviser came out and wanted to refund my entire parking fee. Then he said he had called his manager who was not working at the time. His manager said someone jumped the fence and took my GPS by breaking into my car. ONly thing was my cars locked were not even scratched. what a lame excuse. I made the report. They claimed they would reimburse me the full cost if i showed them my receipt. This was obviously an inside job. So if you dont mind parking your car with thieves go right ahead.

Anonymous (not verified)

Avistar at Newark has the same criminals working for them. Had GPS stolen from hidden armrest compartment. Manager and staff didn't have a care in the world. Totally an inside job.

Tried to make claim with corporate only to find out they are worse than the dirtbags that work at the lots. Was told they aren't responsible. The claim agent actually had the nerve to imply I was lying. Even after filing a report with Newark police at 2am in downtown Newark at the station!!!!!

Will never recommend.

They are HORRIBLE. We used them coming home from visiting family in Texas...there were flight delays, so we arrived a Midnight...we waited 2 HOURS (with a 7 month old) for them to get our car. Then they came back and said they LOST OUR KEYS....Took my Dad to the car...he searched for them, to no avail. They FINALLY offered to get us a rental car home...but we'd have to pay for it and they'd reimburse us...We got home at 5...Dad drove back with rental car at 9am...they STILL had an hour wait, and no keys...Gave him a hard time about taking him back to rental return...All this and Dad found the keys in the corner of the door pocket...NO APOLOGIES from ANYONE...Worst experience EVER....

BEWARE!!!!! THEY ARE TERRIBLE I parked there for a week and when I came back the driver's side door was smashed and the inner door panel was in the back seat. They said the car was that way when it arrived and tried to show me their hand written note saying that the car was damaged when it arrived. The door wouldn't even close properly.
I took it to an auto body shop and they took photos and wrote that the damage was done when the door was hit when it was open - a common parking garage accident. The auto body shop also wrote that there was no rust on the damaged metal, so the damage had to occur within the last two or three days. Since the car was there for a week, it could not have been damaged when it arrived.
Despite all this info, AVISTAR claimed that both its manager and regional manager saw the car arrive damaged. There reaction was to totally ignore my letters and calls.
After reading all these comments, you decide if its safe to park your car there.

If I park long term at JFK and am traveling with 4 large bags, is there a way to transport the bags from the car to the shuttle or am I better off going with Smart Park?

Anonymous (not verified)

The long term lot has the little push carts that you can rent for a couple bucks. You can then wheel your luggage from the car to the building that has the monorail. The building has elevators too, so getting to the platform is easy. Monorail takes you directly to any of the terminals and you can take the cart and luggage on to the monorail and leave the cart at the terminal.

However, with parking now $18 a day in long term, you may want to look into off airport options if it's a long trip.

Should I park at Avistar or Smartpark for longterm parking?

Anonymous (not verified)

Does AirTrain have hours limitations? Do they stop running at any certain hour? We are arriving late on a Saturday night and want to make sure we are able to get to our car when we get back.

Anonymous (not verified)

Nope. Runs all night. Its pretty easy, just remember where you parked!

Anonymous (not verified)

Could anyone please tell me the street address of the entrance to the Long Term Parking Lot at JFK and a rough estimate how long it would take me to make it to say terminal 5 frm the parking lot? Thanks in advance for sharing the information.

Anonymous (not verified)

My complaint: It was very difficult to locate jfk long term parking info on your site. I kept getting Avistar parking on your site and an attorney advertising his services (Edward Jenks, former ADA)

Joe P. (not verified)

Does the airtrain run on any kind of schedule from the long term parking lot? If so does anyone know the time schedule. I am leaving On jet blue at 6 am, and want to have plenty of time for security check and parking

thanks Joe

Anonymous (not verified)

The AirTrain schedule is on this brochure:
http://www.panynj.gov/airtrain/pdfdownload/jfk_brochure_english.pdf
I've never had to wait longer than 10 minutes. You can usually park closer to the Howard Beach station (northwestern side of the lot), compared to the Long Term Parking Lot station, if you prefer a shorter walk.

aliuta (not verified)

This is ridiculous $18 per day, for a week will be more than i paid for my roundtrip flight. I can't believe this, to pay more for parking than for roundtrip flight?

jabenzo

aliuta, you are right. I was paying $18 or so at Avistar. Never again. Use a place called SmartPark JFK. There rate is only $12.

Anonymous (not verified)

don't bothe parking there. take the LIRR to jamaica, get off the train, hang a left and follow the signs to airtrain. it's $5 each way. it's easy, convenient and inexpensive. i love it.

Anonymous (not verified)

Who wants to hike? Trains, trekking, all this to catch a flight.

Anonymous (not verified)

ok..yes, i totally get the "wow, can't believe they are charging $18/day for longterm parking!" but...if you really look at the breakdown...its 18 for the first 24 hrs and then 6 every 12 hrs after...so its really only 12/day which is better than some of the other places that include tax and have to drive u in traffic to the terminal. The JFK longterm pking is soooooo much easier and you can use ezpass to pay at the end. hope this helps!

NP (not verified)

Definitely use the Long Term Parking at JFK and avoid all the schlack and risk of having your vehicle vandalized, damaged for a lousy couple of dollars. Do the right thing and have piece of mind. Imagine returning from a vacation or a business trip and discover your vehicle was messed up....fugeddaboudit.

aliuta (not verified)

Why are you lying? It is $18 per day, and is the most expensive parking within all other JFK parking lots. The other private parking lots is not any harder to get in and out then JFK's parking lot.
People be aware, JFK long term parking lot charges $18 per day. For a week, Sunday to Sunday I paid $138.

Anonymous (not verified)

If you look again you'll $18/day after that $6 for every 8 hours, so is coming up to $18 which is the same like the first day. 8x3=24 (6x3=18) I don't know where did you come up with $6 for every 12 hours?

Aliuta (not verified)

Ohh, ok, than I do apologies for my remark. I was getting it that is $18 every day. Thank you for the info, I was planing to use one of those parking companies, but good thing i checked back here and thank you for posting this message, now I will park my car at JFK long term parking.
Thanks again!

Anonymous (not verified)

recheck your math. you were right the first time. $6 per 8 hours after the first day. Three 8 hr time periods per day... $6 times 3 does indeed equal $18 per day (24 hour period of time) after the first day. Still $18 a day, $6 for the first 8, $6 for the second 8, $6 for the third. now if you got to the lot before 16 hours went by on a particular day, you'd pay only $12 for that day, or $6 if under eight hours.
