There's a bus running but it's far from being convenient! I strongly recommend taking a cab. It shouldn't be to pricy depending on the our of the day since it's a metered fare and not too far away.

I am on a jet blue flight...1304....from iad....we are being held off the gate and told there are no departures clearing for us due to a security issue....I have a connecting flight.....what is the issue ....how long will it be?

meeting someone at terminal 3
Hi,
My mother will be arriving to JFK terminal 3 on a Delta flight from Prague, CZ. She does not speak any English, I am going to be waiting for her at the airport.
First of all, would it be possible for me to wait for her at the gate and go through immigration and customs with her? If not, should I give her a note for the immigration officer explaining why she is coming to visit, where she will be staying and the other usual questions? She will not be able to have a conversation in English.
If I have to wait in the arrivals hall, how is it set up? What kind of direction do I need to give her so that she finds me? Is it going to be obvious to her where to go and meet me?
I normally go through a different airport and have never been to JFK, so any information you can give me will be very appreciated.

when my mother is traveling (speaking no English)I always write her notes she shall give to flight attendants and any other airport staff. It always works out.
Info put into notes: where she is traveling to (flight numbers), asking directions (what and where she shall go to exit airport/for transit), give a phone number where I am reacheble.

My one and only recent experience of JFK was by far the worst i have ever had. Almost every single person that worked there had the worst attitude, the most un professional, lazy and rude people i have ever met and is clearly run by incompetent management, i will NEVER return. If i have to go to New York again i will land at another airport and drive in.
On Dec 27th 2010 after spending the night in what can only be described as a cold, disgusting dirty old airport, I and approx 40 other passengers had been waiting in line for over 2 hours outside Sbarro, waiting for it to open. It was at this time TSA officer EBEGBE walked straight to the front of the line. I along with a few other frustrated hungry passengers questioned her to which we received a very dismissive reply.
As soon as Sbarro opened she was quickly joined by TSA officer BROWN who rudely pushed her way to the front through the crowd. As a result of these poor excuse for security officers pushing their way to the front, everybody followed, creating unnecessary havoc and confrontation. Their immediate response was cussing at myself and a member of my party several times also telling us that they had been there for 24hours - WE HAD BEEN THERE FOR OVER 36 HOURS AND SOME MORE THAN A FEW DAYS!!! Ms BROWN was being extremely confrontational to my party member by entering into her personal space - within 1" of her face, accusing her of touching - which absolutely did not happen and she was clearly looking for a reason to escalate the situation. Both officers became incredibly confrontational, cussing and arguing with passengers. Their behaviour was indescribably unprofessional and im very surprised that it did not turn into something more serious. I would expect this from thugs on the street but certainly not from employees from JFK who are supposed to make passengers feel safe and secure from these very situations.
THEN, as it was time to go through the security check point, officer EBEGBE was operating the bag xray machine and stopped my bag asking it to be searched - even though it had already been through the previous day and absolutely nothing had changed and it was ok then, but she seemed to make a big big deal out of the contents of my bag displaying yet more unprofessional, immature and petty behaviour.
The most outrageous airport i have ever been too.

How long to get through Customs - Jet Blue - From PLS
Hi there,
I am traveling from the Turks and Cacos in March and arrive at JFK on a Sunday at 5:35p flight 1016? We are booked to catch flight 1018? at 10:45p but there is one available at 6:35p. Will I have enough time (under normal circumstances) to get through customs and to the other flight in one hour? They may be on terminal 6 and terminal 5, not sure.
