No, all rental car counters are located at the Federal Circle. Take any AirTrain on track 1 from terminals to Federal Circle station.
My wife and I returned a car to Avis Thursday afternoon before flying back to Europe. Hi,I will be renting a car from Hertz JFK location. As I will not be arriving the airport by air I plan to take Airtran from Jamaica Station to Federal Circle. I wonder how far is Hertz rental location from the Airtran terminal? Is it outside or inside the terminal?

Outside the terminal. Take any air train on track 1 to get there. It takes little more than 5 minutes.
Sorry, you mean I should take Airtran from Federal Circle on track 1 to get there after arriving from Jamaica Station? Thanks for clarification.

MSKT is right. Once you arrive at Federal Circle or if you are at Jamaica Station take any train on track 1 to all terminals.

AirTrain runs 24/7 and is free between terminals and Federal Circle where the rental cars are located. Take any train on track 1.
The reply below from B2G. (with a period) is just a little off. Figure around $100 per day for drop off at LGA, around $75 per day return to JFK with the major rental car companies.

It was enough for me to get my local driving license (Slovak). The guy at the counter used a magic book to check whether it's valid unlimited time...
They recognize European driving licenses.
We are flying in via American to JFK and renting from National. My husband has a breathing condition and can't walk far, can I pick up the car and drive back to the airport close to baggage claim to pick him and the baggage up?

Absolutely. Take any AirTrain on track 1 from T8 to Federal Circle (about 5 minutes), all rental cars are located there.
My fiance is coming from Diseldorf Germany to JKF by Air Berlin and than by American Airlines to Miami..When he picks up his begs where does he check them in??Where he waits for his plain for Miami or there is a desk for American Airlines that he needs to look for???
How long does it take to get from the car rental location to the airport?
1.I intend to pick up a rental car from the airport, do I go straight to Federal Circle, I will be coming via Manhattan....taxi....will it be able to drop me off at the Federal Circle.
2.The hire car company we will be using is Alamo (through Virgin-Alantic)but have noticed that Alamo are not on the list of rental companies that operate here?
1)just tell the driver you want to go to JFK Airport-Federal Circle, all rental cars are located there, there are no rental car counters in the terminals.

just checked on the jfk website and they state that only 6 rental companies operate from there,

Definitely book on-line so you have at least you have a car reserved. Take any AirTrain on track 1 to Federal Circle, all rental car companies are located there.

Rental cars are located at the Federal Circle AirTrain station, take any AirTrain on track 1 from terminal to Federal Circle. There are no rental car counters in the terminals.

Hi, I am travelling along and returning my rental car at Hertz, JFK. I have 2 big luggage and 1 handcarry. I will not be able to handle myself with all these luggages unless there is a luggage carts at the Hertz return.

I wonder if someone can help me?
I am planning to visit America (from the UK) in the Summer with my son, to celebrate his 18th birthday in June. We are flying into JFK, visiting a relative near Liberty in The Catskills, then over to Boston, and back via Cape Cod/ New England. Long Island. At this (early) stage, we are planning to arrive on Friday 22nd June, and would return the car mid/late pm on the 2nd July.
I would prefer something a little "different" ie a convertible of some description, maybe Audi A4 size, or similar... but not a Mini.
I cant seem to get much joy on various web site so I was just wondering if a) this is possible and b) if so, some idea as to the likely cost. Clearly if it is ridiculously expensive, I will just have a "standard" car ie Focus or similar!
Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.
