Customs & Immigration can be cleared in anything from 15 minutes to even an hour or two, depending on the amount of incoming flights at that time. Yes, for further flight, she will have to Security Check again.
My wife and 2 kids are flying in tomorrow. How can they get help to load luggage onto the cart and push it through customs? Is there Skycap services within the baggage claim area? Thanks.
My son is travelling from Zurich to San Jose (Costa Rica) by AA on Christmas. His transit time is 2hrs45min. He has to go through immigration and custom. It’s his first time to travel alone and his age is 15 and not so fluent in English.
Is there any detailed description of how and where to proceed?
Here is close description of the steps :
1. disembark the plane
2. go through US immigration.
3. pick up his checked bags at the baggage belt
4. go through US customs
5. re-check his bags at American Airlines connecting flights counter, located immediately after customs.
6. go to the third floor of T8 and obtain a boarding pass if he does not have one already issued by the airline. He can do that either from the self-service kiosks or from AA check-in counters.
7. go through security and look for the gate number for the flight to San Jose.

Hi, we are arriving from SFO on AA at terminal 8 at 16:10 and departing on AerLingus at 18:30 via terminal 4. Can you tell me where to catch the train and how long this transfer will take? Thanks for you help.
Go to the second floor of T8 and follow the signs for the Airtrain. Take it on track 2 and you will be at T4 in about 3 minutes.

On 7th Sept i'm flying from London Heathrow to JFK.
My flight
number is AA 00141.
I'll arrive around 10.55 pm at Terminal 8.
On 8th Sept i've a flight from JFK to SDQ also in terminal 8.It's at 11.25 am. Flightnumber: AA01529
May i leave my luggage to go to the city?
Is it still open at 11 pm?
Or maybe is it still possible to check my luggages for SDQ?
What can i see in NYC if i've 6-7 hours to spend there by night?
How long take it to got to the city and to come back?
Do we have to be 3 hours before to take our flight to SQD?

Hello, we will be arriving to JFK from Madrid (American Airlines) at 12:45. And then we have to take the plane to San Francisco (also with American Airlines) at 15:10. As I have understood, both flights arrive and start in Terminal 8, is this right? But as I have both tickets separate, what is the right procedure in order to save time (we have 2hours and 25min in between)? Is there a way to send the luggage straight from Madrid to San Francisco? Do we have to pass through costums in JFK? How long does it usually take to complete the procedure?

Ask AA in Madrid if they can check your bags all the way through SFO. You still have to clear customs and immigration at JFK - it takes somewhere between 30-50 mins.

I have an American Airlines flight in November that arrives from London at approx 11:30pm and my connection departs to San Francisco the next morning at 7:00am.
Where is the best place to sit and wait it out at the airport? I looked at hotels and its at least $160 w/transportation for about 5 hours so I'm not going to do that.
Can I check in for my 7:00am flight after I clear customs and go thru security to my gate and wait there? If not, any suggestions on where to wait at the airport?
I'm guessing that Terminal 8 is the same terminal where my flight will arrive and depart since they are both American Airlines flights.

For your AA flight you can check as early as 3am , but no earlier than that. You can go to T4(via Airtrain)and spend the hours there - the building is open 24/7.
Is there an international transit area @ JFK's Terminal 8 or do I need to do immigration when travelling from Europe to Costa Rica via JFK on AA?!
There is no transit area at JFK. Everybody that transits through USA will have to go through US immigration and US customs.

My 17 yrs old daughter is flying from Vienna to JFK on October 16th . She will arrive at terminal 1 at 2:15 pm. Connection flight to San Diego where we meet is at 5:15 pm from Terminal 8 withh AA . My questions are :
1) what should she do at the moment she land?
2)Can you please list the steps she should follow to save time for her connection ?

We are flying today from Toronto arrivng at 9.50pm (AA4471)in terminal 8 and need to catch a flight from Terminal 4 at 11.50 pm. Do we clear customs in Toronto? How long is the transfer between terminals and what do we have to do? thanks,

My girlfriend and I are both arriving in JFK this Friday, she to terminal 8 at 19:40, and the coming through immigration, I to reminal 3 at 20:15 and not going through immigration.

I am reaching JFK from cleveland by american eagle airlines at 2 pm and then I have a connecting AA flight to BRU at 6.30 pm at terminal 8. Since both are terminal 8 , do I have to go thru security checkpoint? Also is there any duty free shops available in terminal 8. Thanks
No, you don't have to clear security again as long as you don't leave the building. There are duty free shops available inside the terminal.

Definitely Terminal 8 is the best place to meet. By the coffee shop on the first floor.
Hi I'm due to arrive from Manchester & only have 1hr 15 mins to clear US immigration. Do you know how long it takes roughly? I'll be on AA211 switching to AA4146 - I think they are both T8 - please do you have any tips to try to make that connection? Thanks
Your connection time is VERY tight so pray that your flight from Manchester arrives on-time (early is better!). Customs/Immigration normally takes 30-45 minutes on a good day, then you'll need to clear security again for your connecting departure.

Cheapest is by Airtrain/subway: take Airtrain to Jamaica Station, take E subway to 53rd St./Lexington Ave., transfer to the downtown #6 to 42nd St./Grand Central and take the Metro North-Harlem line to 125th St. Total cost is about $20.

GO TO THE THIRD FLOOR AT T4 AND THERE TAKE THE FIRST TRAN THAT ARRIVES, REGARDLESS OF THE SIDE/TRACK. ALL THE TRAINS ARE GOING TO T8 WHICH IS THREE STOPS AWAY FROM T4.

How much time will I need between flights to transfer from terminal 4 from an Aer Lingus flight (I will clear immigration in Dublin) to an American Airlines Flight (terminal 8)?

Since you do not have to go through customs at JFK I'd say at least one hour between flights if Aer Lingus can issue you both boarding passes and check your bags from Dublin through to your final destination on AA. If not you'll need to collect your bags and take Airtrain from T4 to T8 and check-in at American which will require additional time between flights.

Hi just looking at on online check-in and it gives you a departing gate and arrival gate. It says i am arriving at terminal 8 at gate 39 but i can't seem to find gate 39 on the map any ideas?

What should I do if i forgot to register at customs in my departure in Terminal 8. I'm afraid I can't re-enter US in the future as one of my friend told that I need to check with you.

If you have been asked to register with immigration(INS) at the time of departure and you failed to do so - it may lead to further complications when you decide to re-enter USA.

I beleive 9W Jet airways is trminal 8
She has to catch a Delta flight from terminal 3
DL 193 Q 18JUL JFK ATL 1515 1810.
I have couple of questions:
1.Does she have to go through immigration on terminal 8 itself before she catches flight to atlanta?
2.What is a usual wait time for Immigration process.
3.How she get to terminal 3 to catch connecting Delta flight,how long does it take?
3.Does she have to pick up her bags from terminal 8 and check in again in terminal 3 or it will be auto checked-in in her connecting flight?
