travelling to jfk and looking for best and cheapest methods of transfers to the HolidayInn, Hasbrouk Heights, Meadowlands please..

Your first step is to find out from the hotel whether it provides complimentary transportation to/from any nearby transportation terminal. If it does not, then find out whether there are any buses to/from Manhattan that stop at the hotel. You should be able to obtain this information by contacting the hotel by telephone or E-mail; the information might also be on the hotel's webpage.

Let us know the answer to that -- and tell us how many are in your party -- and then we can better advise you.

thanks for your help, its much appreciated.

The hotel doesnt provide a service from the airport
but will pick us up from the Williams Avenue Bus stop in Hasbrouck Heights..

there are two of us travelling..our half century birthday treat.. we are from the Uk, so have no idea of how your transport system works... any help will be much appreciated..

regards

There are also two New Jersey Transit train stations that appear to be within the range of the hotel's shuttle service: Wood Ridge, and Teterboro. Or, the New Jersey Transit #163 bus serves Williams Avenue in Hasbrouck Heights. Here's how to catch either the train or bus from JFK:

1. Take the AirTrain to "Jamaica Station."
2. Board a Manhattan-bound "E" subway.
3. For the NJ Transit bus, take the subway to 42nd Street, and enter the Port Authority Bus Terminal directly from the subway station. Follow signs for the NJ Transit Bus departures. For the NJ Transit train to Wood Ridge or Teterboro, take the "E" subway to 34th Street, and enter Penn (short for "Pennsylvania") Station directly from the subway station. Buy your train tickets at a staffed window or ticket-vending machine before boarding, to avoid paying higher, on-board fares. (The train trip to Wood Ridge or Teterboro will require a change of trains at Secaucus Junction Station.)

Depending on how much luggage you will be carrying, you might be better off taking the NJ transit train rather than the bus. You can find the NJ Transit train and bus fares and schedules at www.njtransit.gov.

With all of that said, unless you are visiting friends or relatives in New Jersey, staying in Hasbrouck Heights is not the ideal way to vacation in New York City. You will be spending time and money getting to and from Manhattan every day. Unless you have a non-refundable reservation at the Holiday Inn, I would explore finding an affordable hotel in Manhattan. You can often find good deals at sites like www.travelzoo.com, or at www.hotwire.com.

help needed.. we are coming to new york (jfk) and staying in the HOliday Inn ,hasbrouk heights, meadowlands , new jersey.. and we are struggling to find the best methods and cheapest methods of transportation.. can anyone help us please?? thanks

My wife and I are taking a cruise out of Barcelona on Nov 3. We arrive at JFK from DFW at 15:00 on November 2 and depart JFK to Barcelona at 17:35. Will we have just enough time or plenty of time for the connection. Do we have to go through customs at JFK as I know that will take a while. My wife is afraid that our luggage my not make it to Barcelona before our ship sails.

Thanks,
Scott Matt

There are no U.S. Customs/Immigration formalities for people who are *leaving* the U.S. You should have plenty of time for the connection. It would have been wiser to have arrived in BCN the day before your cruise sailed, just in case there were any flight delays or misdirected-baggage issues; but you will probably be fine.

Thanks I appreciate the reply!

my flight is expected to reach jfk at 9:30 pm (T8)from orlando .. and i have to catch another flight to amman (AA) at 10:30 pm (T4) is one hour is enough to exchange terminals?? and what is the best and fastest way to exchange terminals??

This will be tight and almost impossible if you need to re-check at T4 however if both flights are on AA make sure bags are checked through to final destination and you have all boarding passes then you only need to change terminals and clear security. Take Airtrain on track 2 from T8 to T4.

Hello all
I will be arriving to JFK from LA with American Airlines flight and on my electronic ticket it says that I will be arriving into Terminal 8.
My friend from Hungary will be arriving at the exact same time (Malev Hungarian Airlines - codeshare operated by American Airlines).

I am not sure which Terminal he will be arriving at - but after we both pick up our luggage we would love to meet at some CENTRAL place so we can catch a taxi to Manhattan together.

Any suggestions??? Is there a ONE ONLY McDonalds/Sturbucks etc somewhere nearby (our phones won't be working)?
Please help !!! Thank you!

Your friend will also arrive at Terminal 8. I would suggest that you plan to meet at the AA Baggage Service office, which is located just outside the Customs Hall in Terminal 8.

As you can see at the following link, there are very few establishments in Terminal 8 that are located landside (which is where you will be when you claim your baggage), and I'm not sure if there are any located on the baggage-claim level.

Here's the link: http://www.panynj.gov/airports/jfk-shops-restaurants-services.html

(Be sure to look at the services under the "Terminal 8" tab.)

Thank you Anonymous :)
Yes, he also got his electronic ticket and will be arriving on Terminal 8.

I will send him these instructions (his English is limited but he should be able to ask someone where AA Baggage Service Office is - outside of Customs Hall in Terminal 8).
I guess that will bring him to the point where I will be waiting for him.
THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN !! Really appreciate your help.
Greetings from sunny Australia :)

As an afterthought - I can see on this map you sent me the link for that there is Hudson News/Euro Cafe in Terminal 8 area - in the Arrival Area, pre security. There is also Travelex Currency Exchange at the same location ....

Is that somewhere where we could potentialy meet?

Just exploring all the options :)

Yes, those are possibilities too, but I think that the AA Baggage Service office is best: it is just past the Customs Hall exit, and tough to miss. Of course, if you arrive before your friend, you can also wait just outside the Customs Hall and spot your friend as he exits.
