Last time I went through passport control at terminal 8 it took me 2 and a half hours, i only had half an hour left to get my next flight. It was horrendous.

You will not have enough time to get the connecting flight. The post above is correct.

Hi,

Travelling to JFK, looking for the cheapest easiest way to the Bronx, specifically Story Ave and White Plains

Thanking you in advance

This is one of those rare occasions when I would seriously considering going by bus rather than subway. From the Jamaica AirTrain Terminal at Archer Avenue & Sutphin Boulevard, you can take a Bronx-bound Q44 Limited bus (which picks up at the corner where the fried chicken restaurant is located), and get off at Cross-Bronx Expressway and White Plains Road. Transfer at White Plains Road and Westchester Avenue to the Bx36 bus to White Plains Road and Story Avenue. Total travel time on the two buses will be about 90-100 minutes, which is a little longer than the trip would take by subway, but there will be much less walking.

The bus-to-bus transfer will be free, regardless of whether you pay with a Metrocard, or pay the fare with coins and request a paper transfer.

Closest subway station is on the #6 line at St. Lawrence Ave/Westchester Ave, then walk east on Westchester Ave to White Plains Rd and then south under the Bruckner Expy to Story Ave. By subway take AirTrain on track 1 from terminal to Jamaica Station, transfer to inbound E subway to Lexington/53rd St, transfer to Bronx-bound #6 subway. AirTrain/subway is $7.25, taxi will cost about $60.

JFK offers more flights and more direct flights, but the travel experience at the airport remains a failure. I flew into JFK on Friday from Venice. Leaving the plane, you are routed down a long tube that leads to a connection where security wants you to wait due to multiple planes all being routed to one escalator (people have connections or are traveling into the city). Who designed this? Have the people who run JFK not been thru other airports? Then, following passport control, you exit underground. The transporation is a mess, to park or to get out of the airport.

My advice is to not fly into NY airports if you can help it. The mangement should check their service vs. other international airports.

How about a welcoming experience to the end of a long flight?

hi, i am arriving from dubai on 20th morning to jfk @ 7am. my next flight is to syracuse @ 12 noon..i wanted to know what can i do at the airport / surrounding area in the meanwhile...this is my first trip to the US.

Stay put at the airport. Count your lucky stars and don't tempt fate.

Hi, I have a Delta airlines flight, from Chicago to Barcelona, with a stopover in La Guardia to JFK of 3h 30min of duration. It's possible to go from La Guardia airport to JFK in this time?? I'm not sure about this... Thanks

You should be ok if you arrive on time at LGA and you can get to JFK at least two hours before your flight. At LGA either take a taxi or the NYAirports shuttle bus to JFK. Taxi is faster; about 30 minutes, cost $25-$30, bus is $13; 45-60 minutes.

Yes, it's possible; the transfer should take no more than one hour. And if you are traveling on a paid ticket -- as opposed to a frequent-flyer award ticket -- DL's contract of carriage requires DL to pay for the LGA-JFK transfer. Check with DL Customer Service at LGA after you claim your checked baggage.

hi m travelling alone to new delhi from jfk for the first time and wanted to know what is the follow through process at the airport till flight boarding ie was wanting to know what is to be done first upon entering terminal 4 eg passport control / immigration , baggage check in , security. pls advise . thanks

You will check your baggage at your airline's check-in counter when you check in for your flight. Your airline will inspect your travel documents to make sure that you are eligible to be admitted into India. You will then pass through security, and proceed to your gate. There are no immigration formalities and no passport control when departing the U.S.

Hi! I'm arriving in terminal 4 from Moscow on November 8 at 6p.m. and my next trip to Miami is from terminal 8 to Miami at 8.10p.m. What is the best way to get there? Will I have enough time for it? Thanks

My elderly parents will be arriving on the Royal Jordanian to Terminal four and then they will be traveling via American Airline to Pittsburgh (from terminal 8 I assume). May I please know in detail the steps they have to follow from the time they reach terminal 4 to the moment their plane departs to Pittsburgh? They are elderly and I'd like to prepare them for what to expect. Thank you so much for your help.
