To get from T5 to T3, you would take the "All Terminals" AirTrain two stops to the T2/T3 station. The trip takes about five minutes, with a few minutes' walk on each end to get to/from the AirTrain stations.

If you fly JetBlue into JFK, you will have to change terminals and go through security at the DL terminal. If you fly DL into JFK, you might or might not have to change terminals, depending on which of DL's JFK terminals you fly into and which of DL's JFK terminals you fly out of.

I will be checking one bag in KC on Delta. Do I have to get my bag from delta at JFK and then recheck it with Lan Ecuador? or will it go thru directly to Ecuador?

Since your flying with LAN, you will have to check your bag. I believe the Kansas City flight arrives at Terminal 2. So you will transfer to Terminal 4 with the AirTrain. LAN operates from Terminal 4 so make sure you have enough time between flights to check your bags, etc..

He, we're arriving from Russia in transit to Costa Rica (changing from T1 to T5). Do we have to undergo immigration? Is it possible to check in luggage all through the way, i.e. from Moscow to Jan Jose without picking up in JFK

You will have to go through U.S. Customs and Immigration at JFK, and claim your checked baggage upon arrival at JFK. If you are not a U.S. citizen, make sure that you satisfy immigration requirements for transiting the U.S. If your carrier into JFK has an interline baggage agreement with your carrier out of JFK, then you can ask the first carrier to check the baggage "through" to SJO; then, you should be able to drop the baggage at a re-check desk right after you clear Customs. If the baggage is not checked through to SJO, you will have to carry it to Terminal 5 after you clear Customs, and re-check it there.

travelling to jfk and looking for best and cheapest methods of transfers to the HolidayInn, Hasbrouk Heights, Meadowlands please..

Your first step is to find out from the hotel whether it provides complimentary transportation to/from any nearby transportation terminal. If it does not, then find out whether there are any buses to/from Manhattan that stop at the hotel. You should be able to obtain this information by contacting the hotel by telephone or E-mail; the information might also be on the hotel's webpage.

Let us know the answer to that -- and tell us how many are in your party -- and then we can better advise you.

thanks for your help, its much appreciated.

The hotel doesnt provide a service from the airport
but will pick us up from the Williams Avenue Bus stop in Hasbrouck Heights..

there are two of us travelling..our half century birthday treat.. we are from the Uk, so have no idea of how your transport system works... any help will be much appreciated..

regards

There are also two New Jersey Transit train stations that appear to be within the range of the hotel's shuttle service: Wood Ridge, and Teterboro. Or, the New Jersey Transit #163 bus serves Williams Avenue in Hasbrouck Heights. Here's how to catch either the train or bus from JFK:

1. Take the AirTrain to "Jamaica Station."
2. Board a Manhattan-bound "E" subway.
3. For the NJ Transit bus, take the subway to 42nd Street, and enter the Port Authority Bus Terminal directly from the subway station. Follow signs for the NJ Transit Bus departures. For the NJ Transit train to Wood Ridge or Teterboro, take the "E" subway to 34th Street, and enter Penn (short for "Pennsylvania") Station directly from the subway station. Buy your train tickets at a staffed window or ticket-vending machine before boarding, to avoid paying higher, on-board fares. (The train trip to Wood Ridge or Teterboro will require a change of trains at Secaucus Junction Station.)

Depending on how much luggage you will be carrying, you might be better off taking the NJ transit train rather than the bus. You can find the NJ Transit train and bus fares and schedules at www.njtransit.gov.

With all of that said, unless you are visiting friends or relatives in New Jersey, staying in Hasbrouck Heights is not the ideal way to vacation in New York City. You will be spending time and money getting to and from Manhattan every day. Unless you have a non-refundable reservation at the Holiday Inn, I would explore finding an affordable hotel in Manhattan. You can often find good deals at sites like www.travelzoo.com, or at www.hotwire.com.

help needed.. we are coming to new york (jfk) and staying in the HOliday Inn ,hasbrouk heights, meadowlands , new jersey.. and we are struggling to find the best methods and cheapest methods of transportation.. can anyone help us please?? thanks

Hi,
My wife and I are flying into JFK on Oct 21st via Jet Blue.
The flight is landing around 7:45pm. I guess Jet Blue is based in Terminal 5, but not sure.

Our international flight is leaving at 10:30 from Terminal 4.

Is this enough time just in case we have to go to baggage claim, pick our luggage and put it on the international flight since we are on different tickets (1 for coming into JFK, and the 2nd one for the international flight)?

If we do not have any checked luggage, how much time does it take to get from terminal 5 to terminal 4?

The one-stop ride from T5 to T4 on the All-Terminals AirTrain will take all of two minutes.

I arrived from an international flight to JFK on Sept 25th to be greeted by the most rude of rude workers at your airport. They yelled at us and herded us like sheep through security. They acted like everyone of them hated their job. I just felt dirty from the experience. I will make all attempts to never connect through your airport again. Good luck with moral with this staff...

Posting your complaint here will accomplish nothing, as this privately-operated website is not affiliated with the airport's operator, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. To notify the Port Authority of your displeasure, visit www.panynj.gov. Be sure to provide the Port Authority of your date and time of arrival, as well as your airline and flight number.
