1. He has plenty of time even he has to undergo immigration and customs check
2. He has to pick up the luggage , go through customs and then re-check it again
3. Given the fact that the first flight is domestic, one hour and half is enough time to connect.

How long should I allow from my Manhattan hotel to the JFK Airport, by Airtrain for a 6:40 pm flight on a Wednesday?

I would suggest you to leave the hotel at 3pm the latest - by 4:15pm-4:30pm you should be at JFK.

One of my relative will be arriving to JFK on the 15th and has to change flight to reach Pittsburgh which is the Final destination. However this relative cannot read or speak english. Is there any kind of assistance I can get to help this person to change flights?

Thanks,
Arun

I will be in lower Manhattan at an appt. until 5:30 pm on a Friday in December and have a flight out of JFK at 8:00 pm. Will I have enough time to get through security and make my flight? What is the fastest way to get to jfk from about 700 Broadway Street in Manhattan?

Taxi is usually fastest (flat fare $45+tolls+tip) but travel time can be tricky on Friday evenings. You can also take subway/AirTrain ($7.25): walk west on W 4th St (towards Washington Sq) to the A subway station at W 4th & 6th Ave. Take the FAR ROCKAWAY-bound A subway (NOT the Rockaway Park-bound A) to Howard Beach/JFK, transfer to AirTrain to all terminals. Travel time about one hour, so you should be fine if you get to JFK around 6:30 or thereabouts.

I agree, I wouldn't risk the cab on a Friday at that time. Do what BG says and walk to West 4th Subway and the southbound A train to Far Rockaway and then transfer to the Airtrain.

I will have about 3 hours lay over until next flight.. is there a way that I can take a shower in a nearby place? The next flight is 9 hours long and I am coming from Los Angeles

I along with two other travelers will be arriving at jfk on Saturday evening from orlando and have a 3 hour layover on the way to phoenix - would it be possible to hire a taxi for a quick city tour in this amount of time?

Don't do it! Def not enough time.

Would not risk it. The traffic can get nasty in the city, the security waiting lines are long, and as a result u might get stuck. My advice would be no.

more than likely,no by thetime you get your luggage and grab a taxi your talking at least 20min. minumum to nyc from jfk. 40min.hardly enough time to realy take in the sites.

Hello, I'm arriving to JFK (terminal 4) this Saturday at 7.35am from Southamerica, my final destination is Logan Airport in Boston so once I arrive I have to go to terminal 8 and take another flight at 11.25am. I guess my questions are: will I have enough time to change terminals from 4 to 8? How many people are at customs at that hour of the day? is there too much crowd? and How much time will take me to move from terminal 4 to 8?
Thanks in advance
