I just called JFK airport 6:20 PM EST - and JFK is still closed.
No expected time to open - they don't know!
Agent said - keep calling.
That is the best way to find out when it will open.

I was put on hold for 1st time- 48 minutes. Out of patience so I hung up.
Then, called back 3 hours later, waited for 2 hours and 19 minutes! Still put me on hold.
Called again, put me on hold for 1 hour and 10 minutes!
Still nobody came to pick the call!
I contacted with cheaptickets, the representative told me that is the only number I can contact with them.
I told her, what is the point to call that number if nobody comes to pick the phone!!!! She told me she was not able to assist me any further!!!!
I called them since 7 AM this morning!!!! It seems like they shut down, like JFK shut down the airport.
im having the same problem
im having the same problem with ALITALIA......this morning at 5am i actually got through and they switched me to a flight for tomorrow, and after a couple of seconds that flight got cancelled too. Ive been on the phone waiting on Alitalia and Expedia and NEITHER of them are helping me. RIght now they cant even find my reservation anymore!!!!! They say im not in their system. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? Im getting really frustrated and I dont know what to do. Anyone know if there are any flights to Rome actually leaving tomorrow?

Finally, a representative picked up my phone.
She told me, for rebooking, nothing is available until 1/6/2011.
I canceled my flight with them and requested for a full refund.....
My holiday vacation is ruined...

ha, I'm arriving in London on thursday from NY to celebrate New Years...You should b fine arriving @ JFK on Thursday, the weather will b good & airport should b fine bye thursday for arriving flights...I just hope bye wednesday night when I fly out from JFK that departing flights r back to normal. Also I hope u enjoy New Years in NY, u will probably b more frustrated with the crowded City than the airport, but i guess I'll experience the same thing in London.

No news on arrivals at JFK airport yet but LGA is allowing 8 arrivals. There were certain international flights that were diverted to other airports in DC/PA.
