Operated by - The airport has been operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey under a lease with New York City since 1947.

After the September 11, 2001 attacks, JFK was one of the first airports in the United States to be temporarily closed.

I will be flying into JFK on either jetBlue or United at 8:30 am on a Thursday from IAD and need to get to South African to catch a 10:40 am flight to JNB. Will I have enough time to make the connection or should I arrive the night before and layover?

My husband and I are arriving from Paris. He comes in earlier than me on Delta I arrive on AF. Is there a meeting place in Terminal 1 before security where he can wait?

1st floor at T1, by the coffee shop; it is right to the international arrivals exit.

I am flying LAN Ecuador on terminal 4. I am bringing a dog as cargo from Ecuador to JFK. Once I land in JFK where do I pick up my dog? is there anything else I should be aware of? regulations, requirements, etc?
thanks for your help

Is your dog going to be on the same plane as you? If so, here's what you need to know (I travel with my dog twice a year, and he flies in cargo). You need to check him as bulky luggage, and you will pick him up where it says oversized/bulky in the baggage-claim area. He needs a certificate from his/her vet saying that he/she is healthy. You might not be asked to show it, but you might be asked to show it. You are not allowed to give him/her sedatives; it's illegal. Ask your vet about anything that he/she suggests. Hope this helps!!!

Hello,
We just flew with KLM/Delta to Amsterdam.
We were in NY for a few days and we had only handluggage.
We checked in at the counter because we changed our seats.
With our handluggage we passed 2 checks(1 for handl. and 1 customs)both said nothing.
When we arrived at the gate we all of a sudden had to check in our bags because they were to big.
KLM polisy they said!
Isn't is strange that we fly to NY with KLM and we can take our bags into the plane and a few days later going back with the same amount, same company we have to check our bags in?
The lady at the checkin desk should of told us it wasn't possible instead of giving us a bid mouth!!
Not a nice ending of our few days!!

Looking for opinions on flying a 16 year old on a flight that connects in JFK T3 on delta from phx, the layover time is 45 minutes I am looking for opinions on the safety of this as well as finding out if this would be enough time to catch a connecting flight to Orlando ? Keeping in mind that although my son has been flying for years he has never had to get off the plane and he is not a "big city" kid! Thank you all comments and suggestions welcome and appreciated ! (also the flight arrives at 0725 am)

He should be fine - let him follow the signs from gate to gate(the two flights should be at the same terminal). The time frame is also good as long as PHX flight is on time.

I'm due to arrive from London heathrow at jfk at 12:40 and have a connecting flight to pittsburgh at 16:10. Is this enough time to clear customs (I am a US citizen) and collect my baggage if my connecting flight is also in the same terminal (3)? Thanks

You should have plenty of time.

I will arrive at 23:30hrs on friday Nov 05 in JFK terminal-1, What is the best option to get to my hotel (Country Inn) in Long Islad City??

Public transport is the cheapest option. Use google maps and enter JFK and the street of the hotel for directions. There are several options, some including train other subway and bus which is cheaper. It will take you about an hour.

Easier is a cab, which is probably about $ 20 and half an hour ride.

by subway ($7.25); AirTrain from terminal to Jamaica Station, transfer to inbound E subway to Roosevelt Ave/Jackson Hgts, transfer to inbound #7 subway to Queensboro Plaza, walk west on Crescent St. to hotel. Taxi is closer to $40 including tip.

My son will be returning to active duty in the US Army stationed in Korea. He is flying on US Air direct from JFK to Seoul, Korea. Am I allowed to go with him to the gate to see him off?

Unless US Air will issue you a gate pass so you can clear security to the gate, you will not be able to. Inquire at the US Air counter.
