It would be faster and cheaper (than taking the subway) to just take the Q-10 bus from Terminal 4 to Ozone Park. The bus travels along Lefferts Boulevard, and actually has a stop at the Lefferts Boulevard/Liberty Avenue "A" train station. Fare is $2.25.

If the traveler is not arriving at Terminal 4, (s)he can ride the AirTrain for free to Terminal 4.

I'll have a connection flight in JFK coming from Phoenix by Delta and going to Morocco by Royal air Maroc. I'll have to change terminals, so do i have to collect my luggage and check it again? or they will go thru to Morocco? Thank you

Ask Delta at PHX check-in if they have a baggage agreement with RAM. If so, your bags should be checked through, if not you will need to collect and re-check bags at JFK. Delta arrives T2 or T3, RAM is T1, take AirTrain on track 2 one stop from T2/3 to T1.

Hi,

I am traveling from Pittsburgh to JFK, new york and then to chennai, India. And i will be arriving to terminal 8 from pitt to JFK and boarding from JFK to chennai is also terminal 8.

so my question is

1. Do i need to go through security checking and immigration at both Pittburgh and JFK? my assumption is since both arrival and dept is on the same terminal checking will be done only at pittsburgh.

Thanks in advance.

You are on a domestic flight from PIT to JFK so you will go through security screening at PIT but no immigration until you reach Chennai. Since you are not changing terminals at JFK you will not go through security there unless you leave the terminal.

You will not go through immigration at either PIT or JFK: the United States does not have outbound immigration inspections. Your travel documents will be inspected by your airline(s) to ensure that you are eligible to be admitted to India.

As for security, if there is only one security checkpoint at JFK's terminal 8 (and I believe there is only one), and if you never leave the secure area between flights, then you will only pass through a security checkpoint at PIT. If you have to leave the secure area at JFK to check in for your flight to India, then you will have to re-clear security at Terminal 8.

Thank you so much for your replies ....and valuable info....

I will be arriving JFK from SGN by AA168/23SEP, then having the connecting flight by AA4463/23SEP to YUL. Holding VN passport, having entry visa to the U.S and Canada, could you please tell me the connection procedure? Could I get queue to Immigration to stamp then pass through baggague claim area. I will pick up mines and again pass through custom. After all, I will follow connection area for further formalities?
Thank you for your soonest reply.

You will arrive T8, collect your bags to clear US customs at JFK, then take your bags to the AA connecting flights counter and proceed to the departure level for your connecting flight.

This Sunday, I have a 6am flight to San Francisco(SFO). I live outside of NYC, and I have only one option to get to JFK by paying $149.00 for a cab ride to JFK. Instead, I'm thinking of getting to JFK Saturday at midnight from NYC, cab ride from Grand Central for $60.00, and just hanging out at the airport for my flight. Are there waiting areas that late at the Delta Airlines Terminal? Or, any other suggestions? I'm trying to avoid the $149.00 cab fee. I wish there was a later flight to SFO, but there isn't :((((

You can sit in some chairs until you can check in at 430AM. I did that same thing this weekend.

Or if you have access to the A train, get on the Far Rockaway "A" and get off at Howard Beach Air Train station. Very very convenient and the whole thing will only cost you the price of the subway and $5 for the Air Train. Info on the MTA site.

Why not take the subway to JFK and then only a $5 for the airtrain? You can take the E from just north of grand central to Jamaica and then the air train from there. It's less than $10
