Terminal 4 Facts and Figures
The $1.4 billion T4 opened in May 2001. It is the cornerstone of a $10.3 billion revitalization program currently underway at JFK.
T4 is a model for air terminal technology for the 21st century.
T4 has signed agreements with approximately 50 airlines representing 40 countries, serving U.S. and overseas destinations around the world.
T4 occupies 165 acres, one of the largest properties of any terminal at JFK and is one of the largest air terminals in North America.
T4 was designed with the infrastructure to process between 10 million - 12 million passengers annually.
T4 operates the only facility at JFK's with 24 hour Customs and Border Protection, 365 days per year.
T4 houses the only internal station for AirTrain, JFK's light rail system connecting all JFK terminals, Long Term parking, Car rental and hotel locations, The NYC subway at Howard Beach and the LIRR at Jamaica Station.
T4 is home to 4 religious chapels- Catholic, Protestant, Jewish and Multi-faith, each with a dedicated Chaplain.

Transfer time T4 to T5
Hi. I'm looking to book to New Orleans via JFK from Dublin. I see your runway works will still be going on when I plan to travel. My Aer Lingus flight doesn't pre clear immigration in Dublin and with having to clear immigration in JFK, clear security in T5 and build in any delays due to the runway, would it be too tight to have a 1 hour 50 min interval? (Aer Lingus arrrival to Jet Blue departure) It will be 19:40 to 21:29 on a Sunday evening which may make it easier. Thanks.

You should be fine as long as the flight from Dublin is not late. At that time T4 is not that busy and hopefully you will make it quickly through immigration/customs.

"That cab ride would cost about $78.30. That is roughly $90 with a 15% tip. It is about 35.6 miles."
Again, this is an ESTIMATE.
There is a direct shuttle (I think it is called Westchester Express or All County Express), servicing door-to-door. The price is around $50/passenger.
Check with Ground transportation(Welcome Center) agent for details and booking the shuttle.

I will be arriving from Dublin into terminal 4 and then will be boarding a flight from terminal 7.
How do i transfer between terminals and will i have to go through security??

Take Airtrain on the third floor on any track(the one on track 1 will take you to T7 couple of minutes quicker)to Terminal 7.
You do have to go through security again at T7.

Access between Terminals
I fly into Terminal 4 with Aer Lingus on Thursday. My friend is flying into Terminal 8 with American Airlines 2 hours after me. Is it possible to use the Airtrain to get to Terminal 8 and wait for her there? Thanks.

Yes, it is possible. Just go to the third floor of the terminal after you clear customs. There you take ANY train on ANY track/side. Terminal 8 is three stops away(5 minutes).

If a flight from Europe arrives in terminal 4 and a Virgin America flight leaves 2 1/2 hrs later (also terminal 4) is that enough time to clear customs and catch the Virgin flight?
