Hello,

I will be flying SIN-JFK via Singapore Airlines and will reach JFK Terminal 4 at 1045 hrs. Then, I need to catch a 1340hrs connecting flight at Terminal 8, JFK-RDU via American Airlines. I understand that clearing immigrations & customs may take about 1.5hrs and for the AA flight, I must check my baggage at least 45 minutes before departure

Is a layover of 3hrs enough to catch my flight?

And can some helpful soul confirm that the procedure is as such?
a) Clear Immigrations at T4
b) Pick up baggage
c) Clear Customs

I am at a loss as to what to do with my baggage after clearing the customs. Can I check in my baggage for the connecting flight in T4, since I do not want to lug everything by myself to T8? Can I also check in with American Airlines and print my boarding pass in T4, or must I do that in T8?

Someone mentioned that there is a Transit Counter that I should go to (after clearing customs) where I can check in my baggage for my AA flight. Is this the correct way to do it? How far is the Transit Counter from Customs?

d) Proceed to departure gate in T8 for my AA flight

I understand that there are some security checks here? How long will it take?

Its my first time entering the US, your help will be appreciated. Thanks!

Question| name of airport before 1963

Idyllwild Airport prior to 1963.

This is totally unimportant but i would really appreciate a response: in the jfk airport there are some advertisements that feature something like TRASH ART ART TRASH...they'll have two pictures and the first one will have trash written on it and the other will have art, and then the words are switched.

Im desperate to find out which company the ads belong to, so if anyone is in the airport and sees them please take note!

thank you

the ads are by HSBC bank

ARE THERE EXCESS LUGGAGE SHIPPING COMPANIES AT JFK

Hello,
My arrival from Prague to the JFK is at 14:15 at Terminal 4. After that I have to get to Terminal 3, where I take my second flight to Portland, ME at 16:25.
This is a one-air ticket flight. Do I have to check-in my luggage again? How far is it from Terminal 4 to Terminal 3? How long does it take me if I am an immigrant? Are there any special procedures?

Thanks for your answers,

Cheso

It depends on how busy US Customs and Immigration is when you arrive as to how much time it will take. You will have to check your luggage again for your flight to Portland after you clear customs. When you exit customs take the free Air Train counter-clockwise (the inside track)to Terminal 3 which is one stop and check your bags and check in for your flight.

Do you think there is a big probability I'd miss the flight? How much time before the flight do I have to check-in the luggage?

Of course everything depends on timely arrival of your flight from Prague. I think if you check your bags at least one hour before your flight you should be ok but no guarantees. A quick customs clearance would certainly help.

And what happens, if the flight from Prague is late, or I have to wait more than an hour at the customs? Do the airlines have to give me another ticket for the next flight without any payments?

My sense is you will not be able to turn around that quickly. The distance between terminals is not very short... long walks, wait for the airport train etc. etc. Immigration at JFK is also not as quick as some of the other airports (though LAX is by far the worst).

But the airline DOES have to assecurate enough time for these things if the two flights are included in one air-ticket? Don't you think so?

Delta (or JFK) had a service for a fee to meet and help First Class passengers get luggage, into Customs, and to transportation. Is this service still available? If so, how can they be contacted by telephone and/or e-mail?

where can i find the arrivals (flight schedule)?
