As with the the person below - I'm enquiring about Monday but for departing flights. My GF is set to fly out of JFK monday afternoon, what do we think her chances are? How's the best way to keep informed about the current weather conditions and how the relate to flights?

Like the woman's post below me, I also have a friend who will be leaving the States to go to South Korea sometime between 11-2am. Will the flight be canceled? If so, what happens to the rescheduling flight? Do we have to call up our airlines too?

Arrivals tomorrow
My girlfriend is finally arriving from London tomorrow. However, there's the impending snowstorm ahead, and British Airways has stated they are flying tomorrow. Here's my question. Does the flight still land at JFK or does it get diverted or cancelled altogether?

If JFK remains closed no planes will be allowed to land expect in dire emergency. An airlines' flight plan, will have two or three alternate airports to divert to. Most flights are on approach about 300 miles from their destination and it would be at that point where decisions about landing are made. I would hate to hazard a guess where a flight will land in this storm, but it normally has to be an airport not affected by the storm and can land lots of plans quickly and handle wide bodies — it might be 1000 miles away - I remember once flying to Denver and being diverted to SFO

Please check with your airlines. Or you could google a website I found personally very helpful. Google JFK Airport arriving and departing flight and it gives you flight times of arrival and departure and status of the flight.

My wife and daughter will be at JFK for 5 hours (4pm to 9pm) wiating for a connecting flight. Any suggestions on things to do at JFK during the 5 hours?
