Manhattan Bound
Hi, it's my first time in NY and my flight comes in late, after 11PM. I plan on taking the AirTrain to Howard Beach Station and then take transit A subway all the way to Manhattan. My friend recommended a taxi but the subway is a lot cheaper. I will be carrying luggage, not much though. Will I pass through any dangerous areas of New York? Should I opt out of the subway and take a taxi? Are there any subways/transits I want to stay away from?
I would not advise you to
I would not advise you to take subway after midnight, but if you prefer to do so , choose subway E out of Jamaica Station - it is much safer.
We are arriving at terminal
We are arriving at terminal 1 in Oct 29th at 2.30 PM. Our next flight goes from terminal 5 at 8.30 PM. Is there enough time to take a subway to Manhattan and visit for example Empire State Building?
You will be out of
You will be out of immigration/customs at around 3-3:30 pm ; give it an hour on average to the city(on taxi or express bus;1.5hrs for the subway). You will have to take back transportation at 5-5:30pm in order to be 2 hours before your next flight.
After all , you will have half an hour to an hour in the city, which is not enough for any sightseeing.
