Tha absolute cheapest is by Airtrain/subway ($7.25); take Airtrain from your terminal to Jamaica Station and transfer to the E subway which, when it enters Manhattan, has stops along 50th St. and then heads downtown along 8th Ave. You can also take LIRR ($13)from Jamaica to Penn Station located at 33rd St. between 7th & 8th Aves. The NYAS bus ($15) stops at all terminal and goes to Grand Central Station, Times Square, Port Authority Bus Terminal and Penn Station. Taxi is $50+ and all taxis at JFK are NYC taxis.

I will be arriving at JFK on United airlines from SF at 7:08 and my flight departs with Air France at 9:25. I know that I will have to cross from Terminal 7 to Terminal 1 and I am concerned about time. Will I have to go through another security or customs on my way? Will I have to re-check my bags?

Daughter transiting through JFK back to UK
My 19yr old daughter flies in to JFK from Costa Rica at 01:00hrs 15th May on Delta and flies out to Heathrow at 18:00hrs on Delta the same afternoon. Is there a transit lounge or somewhere where she will be safe enough to have a sleep on a seat without having to try & get a room in a local hotel? Thanks in advance.

Since your close to Penn Station take the LIRR to Jamaica and transfer to Airtrain to the Delta terminal. Cost is about $13, trains to Jamaica are frequent and only takes 20 minutes, then 10-15 on the Airtrain. Taxi could take an hour and will cost $50+. Delta is Terminal 2 & 3 same Airtrain stop, I believe you'd depart from Terminal 3.
