can you challange taxis over prices..example if they dont tell you about tolls before you start off..etc

that is why there is a taxi dispatcher at each terminal at JFK,let him resolve any doubts that you have.

thanks alot

You can always challenge and dispute any price for the taxi if you dont feel satisfied with the price.

How long is the walk from a terminal 4 to a taxi stand

Walkable distance 2 minutes at best.

It is across the street(~1min).

What is the best way to travel from JFK to a hotel near Times Square? We will be travelling with a 1 year old baby and do not have a car seat?

One of the options is to take yellow cab(you do not need a baby seat) - it will cost you flat $45 plus $5.50 toll plus tip.
The other option is to take NY Airporter - express bus that will take you to Times Square(but not to the hotel) for about $15/passenger(kids are free). The same bus stops at Grand Central where you can transfer to a free shuttle to your hotel.

I am arriving at JFK at 8pm Thursday night and I need to get to Toms River NJ how much will this cost me in a taxi? Thanks

Taxi will take you there for a flat rate of 80 $ and tolls.

we a four adults arriving at jfk looking for a transport to midtown manhatten. do we have to take one or to taxis? how many seats does a normal taxi provide? thx

You may take taxi as it will be fast for you to get to your final destination. Taxi is on the meter approximately 40 dollars plus tips and applicable tolls. Taxi driver will provide seats for up to 4 people.

Taxi(yellow cab) to midtown Manhattan is a FLAT fare of $45 plus toll($50.50 altogether). No meters here. Do not listen to JFK_Specialist - the individual is providing wrong information!

Actually JFK_Specialist has been polite and courteous and giving a lot of good information to those nice folks. I think people like Jake W. are here to confuse passengers and to bully on nice people who are here to help passengers in their spare time. Do people like Jake W belong here? I hate to break it down to you but no they dont.
