1.) You do have to collect your bags in order to proceed through US customs. You can re-check them in after that at BA connecting flights counter.
2.) Take Airtrain located across the street from T7 , on track 1 and get off next stop. You have more than enough time to do all that.

Hi,

I'll be arriving an hour or so after a friend (she's arriving on a British Airways flight from London and I'm arriving on a QANTAS flight from Sydney Australia) and we're trying to sort out the best place for her to wait.

Baggage claim area? Outside arrivals gate? Or is there an easy to find Starbucks (or something) that she can settle into til I arrive?

I've had a bit of a looky at the map of the terminal here:

http://www.teb.com/airports/jfk-airport-map.html

But am a little unclear how the levels work and which parts are accesible from where.

Thanks for you help.

At Terminal 7 British is arriving in the international section and Quantas is arriving in domestic section(they clear customs in LAX) of arrivals.
Arrivals hall is located on the first floor and it is not big at all. It is very easy to find each other. There is a Starbucks coffee shop there(with seats in the front of it) and that is a good meeting point.

Awesome. Thanks.

Hi,

I have two hours to connect the flight from Cathay to AA arriving at 1pm

Two of the family members require special assistance(wheel chair) Will it speed up or slow down the immigration and security clearance? Is there any special security&immigration line for them? Thanks!

There is no special line for that purpose. But having wheelchair assistance is a big plus because the assistants know all the details of immigration/customs procedures. And they will take you to Terminal 8(AA) the fastest way.

Hi
I fly into JFK on June 15th at 1310 on Cathay CX 830 from HK.
Want to book Delta flight DL6399 to BNA Nashville at 1515.
2 hours should be enough time to connect flights, yes ?
If by chance we missed the connection, what is advised.
Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark,
Two hours is enough as long as Cathay is on time. In case you miss your connection you have to reschedule your Delta flight with a later one.

Appreciate your quick answer.
Can luggage be rechecked in at Termainal 7 , or do we need to take to Delta Terminal 3

Thanks

Mark

It depends on how you book the two flights - if you book them separately(or the bags are not checked through your final destination) then you have to take them and re-check them at T3. Otherwise - you can either transfer them at connecting flights counter(right after customs) at T7 or take them with you and re-check them at Delta check-in counter.

I am arriving into Terminal 3 (Delta) from DC and then travelling out of Terminal 7. What is the best way to transfer between terminals. How long should this take?

The best way is to take Airtrain across Terminal 3 building, on any track to terminal 7. It takes no more than 5 minutes to get there.

Hello,

I am in need of the desk # for Iceland Air at Terminal 7 JFK. The airline 800 # is not accepting calls at a reasonable time for me and due to all the flight problems in Europe. I would like to know how to proceed. Please let me know as soon as possible!!

Best,
Paul

Hi, we are family of 7 traveling from Hong Kong arriving at JFK at 1.10pm on Cathay Pacific.

Would we be able to make it for the American Airlines flight at 3.05pm? We are not US citizen(which makes the line shorter)

Is there any ground staffs that can help us to make it for the connection?

Where are the baggage claim for custom clearance? Where do we recheck-in our bags?

How do we get from Terminal 7 to Terminal 9?

Thanks a lot!

The baggage claim is right after you pass the immigration.
After you clear customs and exit the hall, turn to the right and you will find Connecting flights counter where you can transfer your bags onto your next flight.
The Airtrain Station is across the street and upstairs - take ANY train on track 1 and get off next stop(1min ride). that is American Airlines Terminal 8(Not 9).
