My mother-in-law is scheduled to arrive on a 1:00 plane from Beijing on August 7. She speaks no English and is traveling on a tourist visa. I was wondering if you could outline the basic procedures upon arriving in the US (e.g., immigration, customs, etc.). Also, if she has difficulties, are there any places to assist her? Finally, we will be picking her up from the airport. Assuming the plane is on time, how long can one expect the immigration/customs procedure to last? Thanks for your assistance!

hi, have a plane to catch and dont know how to go from terminal 3 to terminal 1, would you advice the shortest and easiest way with luggages?

Take Airtrain on track 2 - it is only one stop(less than 1 min).

Hi, I´ll be flying with my baby (infant) from Mexico City with Aeromexico to JFK and then with KLM to Amsterdam. I know I have to change the terminal. I will have only 2 hours to transfer. Will I have to pick up my luggage? Is it enough time to transfer with the baby? Are there any special (I mean quicker) line to pass the immigration for the passangers who only transfer in JFK? thank you for your answer.

Yes, you have to pick up your luggage and go through customs. There is no quicker way in immigration for that purpose. The time is pretty tight , hopefully Aeromexico is on time.

hi there!r school bags allowed in the airplane & what`s the allowed weight for Royal Air Maroc & Delta?how much do hotels cost in T4?thank you so much

Thank you so much for your help & efforts.well I have an overnight flight,i`ll be in JFK T1 @ 7.15 PM & i`ll leave from T2 the nest day @ 7.15 AM,so I have plenty of time for the immigration.I have one more interesting question if you dont mind....will the immigration officers take the closed packet the US embassy gave me or I give it to SFO immigration?or what exactly?thanks lots in advance.have a nice day

That package goes to the immigration officers at JFK - not to worry they will ask you for it.

Thank u so much for yr help ,I appreciate it lots.how much does dinner cost in T1 or T2 ?are there any places where i spend the whole night?thx lots

There is nothing open at either T1 or T2 at that time(even those terminals are closed). You can go to Terminal 4(which is open 24 hours) and have a snack or sandwich($5-$10) at the coffee shop there.
Use Airtrain to go between terminals.

The security personal there will make you leave.

Hi,I`ll arrive to JFK T1 from Morocco then i`ll fly from T2 to SFO...I`m a new immigrant,so should I check with immigration & customs in JFK or I wait till I show up to SFO?is is easy to go from T1 to T2 ?are there any ATM machines,I have a depit card,or should i bring with me USD cash with me?plz guide me cuz this is my first flight.than u very much

You don't have a choice in this case - you HAVE TO go through immigration at JFK(that is your first point of entry in USA). There is a ATM on the first floor of T1, but it is not a bad idea to have a cash , just in case.
It is very easy to transfer from T1 to T2 - just exit the building and walk to your right - T2 is the very next building(5 min walk).
Since you are new immigrant make sure you have enough time between the two flights. For you, the immigration procedures may take up to 3-4 hours.
