After the September 11, 2001 attacks, JFK was one of the first airports in the United States to be temporarily closed.

Hi, I have been advised that it was possible to take a mountain bike onto a plane as hand-luggage in Dec 2008. Is this true?

Mountain bikes do not qualify as carry on equipment

Hi Admin,

Quick question, I will be traveling through JFK in a couple weeks and have a 9 hr. layover. It doesn't makes sense to rent a room for this short a time but I was wondering if the airport offers sleeper rooms which would allow me to nap for a couple hours as I wait for my next flight.

thanks,
Matt

Hotels are WAY too expensive, especially for a few hours. You should be able to find a place to crash for a while. By the time you check out, eat, check back in. you will only sleep a little anyway.

Is there an area that is specifically designed for the weary long-distance traveller though? In Honolulu and Japan (Narita), there are actual areas where you pay a small fee and you can have a private area to lay down and rest without other passersby looking. Is there anything like that there?

where can i look for job postings?

Good website, admin.
but i have some question that i hope to find an answer about it. well i'll come for the first time to US and when i get the visa they gave a file that i need to give to the Immigration service in JFK , so i was wondering could i still find that service open even i get there during the night time or i should come during the day time? and how much time i'll need to be done with that service coz i'll have an other flight after i get there...!

thank you for the site again ,

Hi, I am flying to JFK in June. I have recently had a replacement hip operation and was wondering what I need to do when passing through the security gate as the metal in the hip is certain to set it off.

Let the airline know at check in and request a wheelchair to bipass standing in line and make the security search easier on everyone. You will be patted down and wanded for the most part.

I am coming into terminal 8 and connecting on an international flight departing from terminal 4. How do I get from terminal 8 to terminal 4? Can this be done without having to go through security again?

Thanks

hi

we are travelling via newyork and hv a break journey of around 6 hours time in the evening. we wnt to visit the statue of liberty. is it possible and do we need to take any permission from authorities.

Security
They are very rude, don't just hang up, at least listen to the concern, in this case it was a family member who had not been heard from! Sorry that it was not more serious for Airport security!

Can I put a curling iron in my carry on bag? Its ceramic so its a bit heavier, and it has a cord. I will be flying international to the UK and I'm trying to limit my luggage to one larger carry on.

How long does it take to get to terminal 1 to terminal 4,is it possible to walk. thank you.

ID LIKE TO KNOW IF U THINK IS POSSIBLE THAT THE AIRPORT CLOSE OR CANCEL FLIGHTS TO ASIA AND EUROPE, BECAUSE OF THIS SWINE FLU.....IN WHAT PORCENTAGE IS DAT POSSIBLE??? IM CONCERNED BOUT IT
