Free Transfers
Unlimited-Ride MetroCard permits free transfers

Pay-Per-Ride MetroCard allows one free
transfer of equal or lesser value if you complete your transfer
within two hours of the time you pay your full fare with the same
MetroCard. If you pay your local bus fare with coins, ask for a
free magnetic-strip transfer to use on another local bus.
Reduced-Fare Benefits
You are eligible for reduced-fare
benefits if you are at least 65 years of age or have a qualifying
disability. Benefits are available (except on peak-hour express
buses) with proper identification, including Reduced-Fare
MetroCard or Medicare card (Medicaid cards do not qualify).

I will arrive at LaGuardia
I will arrive at LaGuardia from DC at 1100 hrs and have to catch a flight for Delhi from JFK at 1700hrs. What is the cheapest and best option for transferring from LaGuardia to JFK? Do I have to book in advance for NYAS or I can just take it for JFK upon my arrival at LaGuardia?

Forget about ever using
Forget about ever using nyas. Their contract is done and they have a skeleton service of airtran buses to pick you up from the airport. They take hours to come and why nyas is still selling tickets is completely beyond me!

New Express Bus Service at NY Airports.
Starting 01/01/2011 there is a new Express Bus service at all major three airports - New York Airporter.
It is basically contract take-over from NYAS.
NYAS buses are still serving the airports although with changed locations of pick-up, new fares(cheaper) and new schedules. NYAS is not allowed to book at the spot - it takes only pre-booked reservations,

It is approximately every
It is approximately every 20-30mins(6am-10pm). You can find the bus in front of each terminal. Note, that starting 01/01/2011 one has to have a prior reservation in order to take NYAS. The reason is that they lost their contract with JFK Airport.

One of the options is to take CT Limo - it is a shared ride shuttle from any terminal to Hartford,CT. It leaves every 1 hour and you can arrange it at Ground transportation(Welcome Center) counter.
