To answer some of your questions, there should be several kiosks next to the lines to check luggage. She can use one and pull up the boarding pass by putting in the confirmation code (should be in the email issued when the tickets were purchased) or by scanning the barcode on the printed confirmation email, if she can bring it with her. At most airports, you can wait with her up until they check her ID and boarding pass and she goes through security. Here is a map of the airport:

I am picking up my mother in JFK on Tuesday May 8. She is arriving from HK on CX888. From there, I will join her on AA 3826 to DCA at 1.05 pm same day.
As she is 86 years old and traveling alone, can I request for a special pass to meet her at the gate so that I can accompany her from the time she disembarks from the plane through to immigration and customs?
Also, does she check through her luggate inside the customs inspection area or does she exit with her luggage and then check in at the AA domestic departure counter?

I'm travelling from Perú with my boyfriend to NY on May 23 in Lan LA530. I will arrive at JFK Airport (Terminal 8) at 9 am and I have to take a new flight to Charlotte, North Caroline.
This flight is on US Airways 1126 is the number of the flight and we have to be at Terminal 7 because the flight leaves at 12:00 pm.
We are worried about the baggages so we are thinking in travel just with carry on. Do you think that 3 hours is enough?
