Operated by - The airport has been operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey under a lease with New York City since 1947.

The airport was formally dedicated as New York International Airport on July 31, 1948. It was re-dedicated on December 24, 1963 as John F. Kennedy International Airport, following action of the Mayor and Council of the City of New York, and a resolution of the Commissioners of the Port Authority. After the September 11, 2001 attacks, JFK was one of the first airports in the United States to be temporarily closed.

good day, we are family of four traveling from bermuda transiting through new york JFK, i wish to order some stuff from amazon or eBay which i could collect while we are in new york (which is for about 10 hours)), is there any facilities like that at JFK? COULD ANYONE SUGGEST ME ANY OPTIONS? also which is the closest shopping mall near by. thank you

Closest mall is Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream. I do not believe there are any facilities at JFK for you to pick up mail order items.

Hi,

Is it possible to meet local visitors at T4 in the lounge area or at any other place?

I will be arriving at JFK, enroute from India to Chile on the 13th of May and will be at the airport for 6 hours in transit, while I wait for my connecting flight to Santiago.

My aunt and family who live in New York wish to visit me during this time. Is this possible? If so, please advise what they need to do to meet me.

Hi, Would you please help me with this query?

Hi,

I would like to ask you whether is allowed to carry small magnets in the main luggage that is checked-in for the main trunk of the airplane? I know that it is not allowed to carry such things in the hand luggage, but hope that is allowed in the main one. I'm asking about a wooden game with magnets: http://amzn.to/hqMDwD

Thank you,
Vladi

Should be ok in checked luggage.

Hello,

I will arrive at JFK next month for a 15-day stay. Any place inside JFK airport where I can buy a prepaid mobile phone (or perhaps just a SIM Card)? Thanks.

Yes you can buy a SIM card within the terminal building. I did it as I live in Bermuda and I went home to England via JFK. I purchased a $50 SIM card which lasted about two weeks as my hub was still in Bermuda.

hi is there an airport lounge ? if so how far is it located from t8?

Thanks

If you're inquiring about a smoking lounge, the airport is smoke-free and smoking is allowed outside of the terminals only. You would need to re-enter through security each time you exit for a smoke.

Hey,

I´m flying in from LAX at 2.59 pm and is flying to Denmark at 9.50 pm. Can we make a quick trip to the New Your and when do we have to be back in the airport?

Maria :)

You could but you would need to return to JFK at least 2 hours before departure, and allow at least one hour travel each way. Doesn't leave much time for sightseeing!

Hi,

I will arrive at JFK next month and will stay in US for 15 days. I wanted to know if is there any place inside JFK airport where I can buy a prepaid mobile phone (or perhaps just a SIM Card). Thanks.

I'm planning to book a flight from london to fort lauderdale which has an eight hour stop at JFK airport. would it be possible to leave the airport to go to new york city within the 8hr gap and under what conditions e.g. checking into next flight etc:
thank you

Yes it is possible and you have more than enough for a trip to NYC. Make sure that you come back 2 hours prior to your flight to Ft Lauderdale.
