John F. Kennedy International Airport is an international airport located in Jamaica, Queens, southeast of New York City.

ICAO code - KJFK

Operated by - The airport has been operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey under a lease with New York City since 1947.

History - Construction of the airport began in 1942 with modest ambitions. Only 1,000 acres (4 km²) of land on the site of Idlewild golf course were earmarked for use. The airport was formally dedicated as New York International Airport on July 31, 1948. It was re-dedicated on December 24, 1963 as John F. Kennedy International Airport, following action of the Mayor and Council of the City of New York, and a resolution of the Commissioners of the Port Authority. After the September 11, 2001 attacks, JFK was one of the first airports in the United States to be temporarily closed.

8 January I am arriving at terminal 3 with KL6003 (Delta/KLM from Stockholm) 16.55 and leaving from terminal 3 with DL99 (Delta to FT Lauderdale) at 18.35.

I have two questions regarding this:
1. Do we need to go thru customs and security check here or can we just change plane and do that in FT Lauderdale instead?

2. I am travelling with my elderly mother and if we do need to go out and in again through security check we will need wheelchair assistance to be able to be on time. Where do I book wheel chair assistance?

Best.

Hello, my niece will be flying on in January from Kiev to Denver, connecting in JFK. Trouble is that Airline that she will be using to fly from KBP to JFK (AeroSvit, flight number VV131) will not provide an escort from arrival to departure gates. Her connecting flight is with Delta (flight number 2785), but they also refused to help. The girl is fifteen and I worry she will have trouble navigating the airport by herself. Could the airport personal help her get from one gate to another, possibly for a fee?

Thank you.

what is the status of flights for tomorrow into Heathrow due to weather ?

Hi My Boss is travelling from JFK to LHR on the BA112 today I can not check him in on-line at the moment but his flight is still showing as operating. When do the check-in desks open (how long before a flight)?

Thank you.

Was wondering which Terminal is named South Terminal? I'm flying into South Terminal Gate A04 with a 50 minute stop over and departing Terminal 3 Gate 25. Is this likely to happen?

There is no "South Terminal" at JFK(the terminals here go by numbers). Terminal 3 has only gates from 1 to 18. Check your info again.
If you tell us the airlines and destinations/origins then we will be able to help you more.

Tomorrow I'm flying from Ecuador to JFK with LAN Ecuador. I have a lot more luggage than i can carry. I have been to the airport before and never saw any carts to help the people going from baggage claim and through customs. I will not be able to transport it all on my own, will there be any help?

You can either rent a baggage cart($5) or have so called skycap to help you with the bags(they charge $1-$2 per bag).

We arrived at the JFK by Air India on 121710 at about 6:45 AM. There were fifteen wheel chair passengers in our flight.
Only TEN wheel chairs were available.
Only four wheel chair pushers were there.
Even each of them carried TWO chairs, my wife was left on a chair near the baggage claim. The wheel chair person disappeared. After searching for him we had to leave to catch our Delta flight. With her disability and no one to guide us we had missed our flight. There should be CLEAR directions how to catch Delta. One person had sent us downstairs and we found it was parking area- no way to go to Delta. Then we took elevator to third floor, crossed over went down stairs etc.
The name of the wheel chairpusher was John, an African American. He was very very RUDE. He did not care for the passengers, he was more playing the role of a Supervisor to others. He even asked me if I would like to push her chair in case I was in a rush.
