JFK AirTrain is the automated, elevated people mover system that operates between JFK International Airport, Long Island Rail Road trains and New York City Subway.
It also serves as an on-airport service connecting the airline terminals, rental car facilities, hotel shuttles, and airport parking lots.
AirTrain Routes
- Howard Beach route
The Howard Beach route ends at the Howard Beach-JFK subway station. It stops at Lefferts Boulevard (connecting transit services - B15 bus) for shuttle buses to long term parking lots A and B and to airport employee parking.

Q11 bus Runs along Cross Bay Blvd, Q21, Q53 SBS, Q52 SBS – Serve the Cross Bay Blvd corridor
- Jamaica Station route
The Jamaica route ends at Jamaica Station on the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) next to the Sutphin Boulevard/Archer Avenue-JFK subway station (to Brooklyn and Manhattan or Queens).

E, J and Z subway trains
Q6, Q8, Q9, Q20A, Q20B, Q25/Q34, Q30, Q31, Q40, Q43, Q44, Q60 and Q65 buses.
- Airline Terminal route (free)
The Airline Terminal route connects JFK terminals, hotel shuttles, parking areas and rental car facilities.
All JFK AirTrain stations are wheelchair accessible. Howard Beach subway and Jamaica Long Island Railroad stations are wheelchair accessible too.

Take AirTrain on 3rd floor
Take AirTrain on 3rd floor of T4 to Jamaica Station, transfer to the E subway to Roosevelt Ave/Jackson Hgts, transfer to the inbound #7 subway to 33rd St/Rawson St. Walk 1/2 block to Queens Blvd and turn right, go about five blocks to the hotel. You can also take a taxi direct to hotel from JFK, fare is about $35.

Take JFK AirTrain from your
Take JFK AirTrain from your terminal to Jamaica Station, transfer to LIRR to Penn Station, transfer to NJ Transit-Northeast Corridor train to Newark Airport Station, take Newark Airport AirTrain to any terminal and catch the hotel shuttle. If the hotel shuttle will pick you up at Newark-Penn Station then you can get off there without having to go to Newark Airport.

Taxi is direct, flat rate $45+tolls+tip. You can take a variety of subways to lower Manhattan with stops not far from Maiden Ln., best route is: take AirTrain from terminal to Howard Beach Station, take A subway to Broadway/Nassau (Fulton St.), Maiden Lane is two blocks south.
JFK to 42nd Street
Arriving after a long haul flight at 9:30pm, 4 people and 4 suitcases. Will it be a struggle to get the AirTrain to Jamaica station and onto 42nd Street Subway. Is it referred to as '42nd Street' line?? Our hotel is on this street between 8th and 9th.

Four of you can share a taxi
Four of you can share a taxi which will take you direct to your hotel, cost is flat rate $45+tolls+tip. The subway to take at Jamaica Station is the E subway, which runs from Jamaica Center to World Trade Center, get off at 42nd St/Port Authority (at 8th Ave) and walk west on 42nd St 1/2 block to your hotel. It will cost $7.25 per person for AirTrain and subway.

At this time I do not recommend taking the train, save a few dollars, you can take the shock of living in or traveling to Manhattan uneasy.
