History - Construction of the airport began in 1942 with modest ambitions. Only 1,000 acres (4 km²) of land on the site of Idlewild golf course were earmarked for use. The golf course provided the airport's original namesake, Idlewild Airport. First commercial flights began on July 1, 1948. The airport was formally dedicated as New York International Airport on July 31, 1948. It was re-dedicated on December 24, 1963 as John F. Kennedy International Airport, following action of the Mayor and Council of the City of New York, and a resolution of the Commissioners of the Port Authority. After the September 11, 2001 attacks, JFK was one of the first airports in the United States to be temporarily closed.

How to get from Terminal 3 to Terminal 4.
I am travelling from Atlanta to India.
( Atlanta(Delta) -> JFK -> DOHA (Qatar) -> Mumbai(Qatar) ).
My Delta flight would land on JFK terminal 3 at 8:30 PM.
My next flight (Qatar airways) departs at 10:30 PM from terminal 4 on JFK.
How quickly can I go from Terminal 3 to Terminal 4?
The time diff between my landing on JFK (terminal 3) and take off to Doha from Terminal 4 is just 2 hours.
Assuming I would take 1 hour to get my luggage from terminal 3, can anyone suggest how quickly can I move to Terminal 4.
Is there any checkin counter for Qatar airways on terminal 3?

I'm travelling back to JFK on Sunday & planning to use the Airtrain (can't afford another $55 tax fare!) I know I need to take the LIRR from Penn station to Jamaica & get the Airtrain from there but I can't seem to find any info on times - does anyone know how long I should allow for the trip from Penn to JFK?

The trip itself takes 20 min. but allow allow for a five minute walk between LIRR and Airtran and 10 or 15 min walk between Airtran and your terminal. Check the LIRR website for train schedule.

I have done the trip from 53rd and 3rd a few times in the past months, and I usually allow about an hour travel time. I usually get to the airport a little earlier than necessary, but better safe than sorry. Hope this helps.

I will be leaving on a domestic flight from JFK. Before my flight, though, I'd like to meet a friend who's arriving International. With my Domestic ticket, can I get to his International gate?

Is it possible to arrive on a JetBlue flight at terminal 4, international, from St. Lucia, Thursday, April 8 at 9:26 PM and make a connecting flight at Terminal 5, departing 10:59. 1:33 between flights. Luggage is carry-on.
