History - Construction of the airport began in 1942 with modest ambitions. Only 1,000 acres (4 km²) of land on the site of Idlewild golf course were earmarked for use. The golf course provided the airport's original namesake, Idlewild Airport. First commercial flights began on July 1, 1948. The airport was formally dedicated as New York International Airport on July 31, 1948. It was re-dedicated on December 24, 1963 as John F. Kennedy International Airport, following action of the Mayor and Council of the City of New York, and a resolution of the Commissioners of the Port Authority. After the September 11, 2001 attacks, JFK was one of the first airports in the United States to be temporarily closed.

Time Change
Hi, I have an International Fight going to South America @ 4:42 am on Sunday......and due to time change I was wondering if the time set was for the old time or spring forward time. I just really want to be on time.....any advice would help :)

American Airlines Cargo working phone numbers at JFK
HI
I need to talk to the American Airlines Cargo Department at JFK and understandt the the department was moving. I do hold a probably invalid phone number (718) 632 3456 as even AA in DFW can't contact them. Does anyone have a valid phone number of AA at JFK. I greatly appreciate any help.

United Airlines arrival area
I'm flying in on Jet Blue tomorrow morning and need to get to the United arrival area to meet with a party coming in from Virginia. What is the best strategy to get to the United Arrival area?

Use Airtrain from wherever you arrive at to Terminal 7(United terminal). Domestic arrivals at T7 is located on the first floor.

hi we land in jfk at 1300 ish and fly to tampa at 1830 ish can you get out and look around the city then come back in as they do in singapore

To check baggage or not to check
I have a 1 way ticket into JFK and then I have another 1 way ticket from JFK to LAS and I'm not sure whether I should check my 1 bag or just carry it on. I understand that if I check my bag i will have to pick it up at JFK and go back thru security before catching my next flight. How far is it or how long will it take to get from baggage to go back thru security? Are they in different buildings?I'm flying JetBlue both legs if that helps.

Where are you coming from on Jet Blue? If the first leg is an international flight then you have to change the buildings. In either way you still have to go through security check again. Your second flight would be out of Terminal 5.

Hello, I am a 62 years old Spanish man who is going to be in Ny 11 days. I have reduced mobility. I can not walk long distance but I can not bring my wheelchair from Spain for some reasons. I was wondering if there is any alternative to rent or borrow any wheelchair to move into the airport, and if I there is, Can I use the wheelchair just inside the airport or can I rent it for the 11 days that I am going to be in Ny? Thank you.

I am taking flight DL 6681 on Sat March 6 from PHL to JFK. This flight arrives at JFK at 2:45pm. I depart JFK on DL 166 at 4:10pm. Given the current conditions, will I be able to make the DL 166 flight at 4:10pm?

You flying the same airline so the things shouldn't be that complicated. As long as your flight from PHL is on time you should be OK with the transfer.
