John F. Kennedy International Airport is an international airport located in Jamaica, Queens, southeast of New York City.

IATA code - JFK

ICAO code - KJFK

Operated by - The airport has been operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey under a lease with New York City since 1947.

Time Zone - EST (GMT -5)

History - Construction of the airport began in 1942 with modest ambitions. Only 1,000 acres (4 km²) of land on the site of Idlewild golf course were earmarked for use. The golf course provided the airport's original namesake, Idlewild Airport. First commercial flights began on July 1, 1948. The airport was formally dedicated as New York International Airport on July 31, 1948. It was re-dedicated on December 24, 1963 as John F. Kennedy International Airport, following action of the Mayor and Council of the City of New York, and a resolution of the Commissioners of the Port Authority. After the September 11, 2001 attacks, JFK was one of the first airports in the United States to be temporarily closed.

this website is soo sad, nothing about what one can spend time doing at the airport if one has a five hour connection !

Whats the most efficient way to travel to CT from JFK??
thanks

I have a layover at JFK and will be traveling with my dog. Is there a dog-walking area where I could let my dog do his business before we get on the plane for a 6 hr. flight?

I am a wheelchair dependant traveller and two years ago I spent a week in New York and I travelled with my wheelchair.

My wheelchair was not allowed to be used on the plane so I was made to transfer from my wheelchair and into the planes chair before the flight.

When I arrived in New York and JFK Airport I was wheeled out to the luggage rotunda to a wait being reunited with my wheelchair and independence. My wheelchair and I were reunited but unlike in other airports where my wheelchair was brought out to me my wheelchair made an appearance by way of coming down on the luggage rotunda.

I have still not been reimbursed for the cosmetic damages to my wheelchair and the unconvinced.

Do I have to take further action on this matter?

I demand an apology and to know if the USA make it a matter of course to disregard the needs of disable people and ignore the basic rights and respects that should be afforded to all?

I am still waiting an answer

hi i need to know when the next flight from new york arrives in chicago ? and when the last flight from virgina arrived in new york

Hello JFK team,

I read about the delay and flight cancellations, and would like to check if the flight
AI144   L    20DEC  EWRLHR HK1    1900 0635+1 is planned to leave without problems. I have a lot of baggages and wouldn't like to be stuck at the airport or forced to
return home. If that is not the place to ask sorry for the inconvenience. Simply guide me through the right service. Thank you in advance and happy holidays. cb_

So I just flew back to Spain, and I was traveling with a huge case for my very expensive downhill racing mountain bike... It never left JFK and the airlines and destination airport have no clue what I should do. Great way to say goodbye to my favorite city...

Dear Sirs I've bought a 12 year old whisky bottle to give to my father as a Christmas gift last 11 Dec at the duty free JFK. However nobody informed me that when arriving at an EU airport with would be confiscated once it had more than 100 ml! While arriving at Amsterdam my the security confiscated my 38 dolars bottle and thrrow it away to the garbage can.I've requested to dispatch it with my luggage and they statrted to search my entire hand luggage and the time they delayed me was enought to miss my flight. I had to wait 7 hours for my next plain and when I finally got to my destination my luggage was lost. So now I have no luggage, clothes, my child presents nor my fathers bottle. I feel that all this could be avoided if the lady and the duty free that checked my check in card had noticed that I was flying to Europe and adviced my about they restrictions concerning liquids instead of being interested in selling me something that could never arrive to final destination. Do you know where I can fill in a complaint? Thank you very much for your support and I hope this event can help other person.

Arrive JFK domestic at 1:30 PM. Layover is 9 hours until our international flight. Are there any facilities in JKK to wait other than the gate or lobby area. ie: Hotels lounge etc.
Thanks

Paul,

Take the Airtrain to Jamaica station (you have to buy a ticket - $5 - for this before exiting - very odd) then any westbound LIRR train (not sure how much it costs, probably $7 - head downstairs to get your ticket in advance) to Penn Station. When you get off at penn station, head upstairs one level and head towards 8th avenue (or just follow the amtrak signs). Hope this helps!

I need to find out how to get an amtrak train from jfk airport.

thanks

Dear Sirs,

I am kindly asking you to advise the phone number of the airport lounge Oasis in Terminal 4. I visited the lounge before leaving to Europe and most probably forgot my briefcase there. I would like to check it over the phone with the ladies.
Thank you in advance for your promt respond.

Best regards / Pavel

Hello I arrive JFK, the 30th December, and my next plane leaves the morning after, is it possible for me to wait those hours on the airport over night. I have lounge access, are these open in the night? And is all the terminals open 24/7?

Hi, I wil be leaving to Mexico in a few days. I need to know weather i need a visa to get in, if I have a Geencard, and a Ukrainian Passport.

Help. pls.
My friend flies in a couple of days from JFK
and I need to send him money. Is there any Money gram or western union inside the airport?
That would save me time and money.

Thanks a million.
