Operated by - The airport has been operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey under a lease with New York City since 1947.

The airport was formally dedicated as New York International Airport on July 31, 1948. It was re-dedicated on December 24, 1963 as John F. Kennedy International Airport, following action of the Mayor and Council of the City of New York, and a resolution of the Commissioners of the Port Authority. After the September 11, 2001 attacks, JFK was one of the first airports in the United States to be temporarily closed.

Will pick elderly parents on the 10th. Estimated plane arrival is 2030hrs. Got a stopover in Achorage Alaska prior to JFK airport touchdown.

What is the estimated airport processing time including luggage pick? What time should i be in the airport parking lot? I appreciate your help.

I'm leaving tomorrow to Southamerica, but the plane will stop at miami. Do we need to be two or three hours before at the airport?

Hello I Just wanted to know if someone picking up an arriving passenger, can that person go to the arriving gate to meet them without a olane ticket.

Thanks

we are thinking about booking with jetblue in march from buffalo with a connecting flight to Turks and Caicos with them also, would 2 hours be enough time for the connection

Hi, Will I be able to find a coin - operated payphone at JFK or is it only credit card phones? How much does a local call (to Queens) cost? Also, if I have to call a number that is 800-xxx-xxxx, does that mean that it is a free call number, or is 800 an area code in Queens?

Thanks for you help!

In this era of cell phones most, if not all of the pay phones are gone. Check at one of the information desks when you arrive for available public phones. 800 is a toll free number.

I will arrive at JFK at midnight then go to Edison, NJ. Please any one could advise, if it is easy and safe to take cab and how much it will cost, many thanks

Taxi to Edison will cost around $100+. You can take Amtrak from Penn Station to Metropark which is the closest Amtrak station to Edison or NJ Transit to Edison, although late night service is infrequent on both train lines. Options for getting to Penn Station at that hour are taxi ($45+tolls+tip), or AirTrain from terminal to Jamaica Station ($5) and LIRR ($5.50) to Penn Station. The E subway ($2.25) from Jamaica also stops at Penn Station but opt for LIRR at that hour instead.

My husband and I are arriving from Paris. He comes in earlier than me on Delta I arrive on AF. Is there a meeting place in Terminal 1 before security where he can wait?

1st floor at T1, by the coffee shop; it is right to the international arrivals exit.

Hello,
We just flew with KLM/Delta to Amsterdam.
We were in NY for a few days and we had only handluggage.
We checked in at the counter because we changed our seats.
With our handluggage we passed 2 checks(1 for handl. and 1 customs)both said nothing.
When we arrived at the gate we all of a sudden had to check in our bags because they were to big.
KLM polisy they said!
Isn't is strange that we fly to NY with KLM and we can take our bags into the plane and a few days later going back with the same amount, same company we have to check our bags in?
The lady at the checkin desk should of told us it wasn't possible instead of giving us a bid mouth!!
Not a nice ending of our few days!!
