History - Construction of the airport began in 1942 with modest ambitions. Only 1,000 acres (4 km²) of land on the site of Idlewild golf course were earmarked for use. The golf course provided the airport's original namesake, Idlewild Airport. First commercial flights began on July 1, 1948. The airport was formally dedicated as New York International Airport on July 31, 1948. It was re-dedicated on December 24, 1963 as John F. Kennedy International Airport, following action of the Mayor and Council of the City of New York, and a resolution of the Commissioners of the Port Authority. After the September 11, 2001 attacks, JFK was one of the first airports in the United States to be temporarily closed.

To get to Newark from JFK, take the Belt Parkway west out of JFK to the Verrazano Bridge. Go over the bridge, cross Staten Island via the Staten Island Expresway, to the Goethals Bridge to New Jersey. Once over the bridge, take the NJ Turnpike north to the Newark Airport exit.

Are there any western union or money transfer kiosks at the JFK airport terminals?

In terminal # 3 are there facilities to exchange US dollars to Euro's ? Leaving for Greece on Friday June 8.

JFK's is just simply gigantic!!! so spacious!! i'd never benn there n after i went to this site, i feel like i wanna fly to ny straight away!! oh!! apparently jfk airport should be one of the state is US.

my wife will be coming into jfk in May and she will be enroute to Canada. Is there anyone at there anyone at the airport that can help her to get to her connecting flight because she only speaks Spanish.
