Parking at JFK doesn't have to be complicated. The right choice mostly comes down to two things: how long you're leaving your car and how close you want to be to your terminal.
JFK Parking at a Glance
These are the current drive-up rates listed in the Port Authority's JFK Schedule of Charges effective May 28, 2026. Online reservation prices can be different and may vary by date and availability.
Which JFK Parking Is Right for You?
Flying today?
Park near your terminal
If convenience is your priority, use the parking facility serving your terminal. You save time and avoid an extra AirTrain connection.
Away for several days?
Start with Long-Term Lot 9
For a multi-day trip, compare Long-Term Parking first. It's farther from the terminals, but the pricing is designed for longer stays.
Picking someone up?
Don't wait at the curb
Use a designated waiting area or Cell Phone Lot and drive to the terminal when your passenger is ready.

JFK Parking by Trip Length
| Your trip | What I'd compare first | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A few hours | Terminal parking | Convenience usually matters more than the daily rate. |
| 1 day | Terminal vs. Long-Term | Compare the actual total for your stay. |
| 3–7 days | Long-Term Lot 9 | Designed for longer stays and connected by AirTrain. |
| 1–2 weeks | Long-Term vs. off-airport | Compare the complete price, including shuttle convenience. |
Terminal Parking: Where Should You Park?
Terminal 4
Blue Parking
Blue serves Terminal 4. The current drive-up daily maximum is $94.
Terminal 5
Yellow Parking
Yellow serves Terminal 5. The current drive-up daily maximum is $89, and EV charging is available.
Terminal 8
Red Parking
Red serves Terminal 8 and currently has the lowest daily maximum of the three active terminal parking facilities.
Long-Term Parking at JFK
Going away for a week? This is where Long-Term Lot 9 becomes much more interesting than terminal parking.
The current drive-up rate is $55 for the first 24 hours, followed by $27.50 for each additional 12-hour period.
The trade-off is simple: you're farther from the terminal, but you can use the AirTrain to reach the terminal area.
Good to know
AirTrain travel within JFK is free. You don't pay an AirTrain fare simply because you've parked at JFK and are traveling between airport facilities.
JFK Parking and AirTrain
If you're using Long-Term Parking, the AirTrain is what makes the location practical.
AirTrain is free within JFK, including travel between the passenger terminals and airport facilities. A fare applies when traveling to or from Jamaica or Howard Beach.

Need to Pick Someone Up?
Don't do this
Don't sit and wait at the terminal curb. The curb is for active pickup and drop-off. If your passenger isn't ready, use a designated waiting area and drive to the terminal when they call.
JFK Parking During Construction
This is the part of JFK parking information most likely to change. Construction can affect parking availability, road access and traffic patterns, so an older parking guide may not describe what you'll actually encounter today.
Before driving to JFK, check:
- your departure terminal;
- current parking availability;
- your parking reservation;
- current construction information;
- extra travel time for airport traffic.

Off-Airport Parking Near JFK
Off-airport parking can be cheaper for longer trips, but don't compare parking prices on a simple "$X/day" basis.
Look at the total price and consider the shuttle time, operating hours, taxes, cancellation rules and distance from JFK.
Lowest price
Compare the total
Don't assume the advertised starting rate is what you'll actually pay.
Early flight
Check the shuttle
A cheap lot isn't useful if its shuttle doesn't work with your departure time.

Long-term parking and the AirTrain
I'm confused, if we park in the JFK long-term parking lots, do we also have to pay to get on the AirTrain to get to the terminal? If so, is that another $5 per person each way?
