John F. Kennedy International Airport is an international airport located in Jamaica, Queens, southeast of New York City.

History - Construction of the airport began in 1942 with modest ambitions. Only 1,000 acres (4 km²) of land on the site of Idlewild golf course were earmarked for use. The golf course provided the airport's original namesake, Idlewild Airport. First commercial flights began on July 1, 1948. The airport was formally dedicated as New York International Airport on July 31, 1948. It was re-dedicated on December 24, 1963 as John F. Kennedy International Airport, following action of the Mayor and Council of the City of New York, and a resolution of the Commissioners of the Port Authority. After the September 11, 2001 attacks, JFK was one of the first airports in the United States to be temporarily closed.

Hi. I'm landing at JFK from South Africa at 11:00pm. My connecting flight to Minneapolis is only departing at 10am the next morning. Is it possible to stay over at JFK for 12h? Are there any facilities like a lounge where I can take a shower, have a drink or similar? Or would you recommend that I book myself into a hotel for the night? If so, can you please recommend a cheap option as close as possible to JFK? Thanks for the help!

I am a frequent international traveler but I am new to flying through JFK. I will be flying into JFK from Washington DC on American Airlines which is in terminal 4 and will be catching a flight on Emirates Airline to Dubai this airline operates out of terminal 4. Does anbody know how transport b/w terminals works at this airport and about how long it will take to get to terminal 4 from terminal 9?
