As I got off the plane I started coughing. The Delta flight attendant from my flight offered my a water to have with me as we waited for our next flight. After we passed through customs, needing for some reason to pass though metal detectors again, they made me dispose of the water. We were then hearded like animals up an escalator, lucky us it was working, then we turn the corner, this one is not working, not only is it not working but it appears to have been out of service for many monthes if not over a year, the dirt had accumulated in the grooves of the escalator there were dust bunnies and lint balls everywhere. We preceded to our terminal and on the way I came down with a bout of coughing my throat was locking up I could not breath without coughing. I needed water. $4.00 for a little tiny bottle. This however was not the problem the problem was the dirt, I only have hayfever allergies not extreme allergy, but the dust in the airport made me sick, sweaty and embarresed. This is a very serious problem, an airport employee threaten not to let me get on my flight if I didn't stop coughing, he said other passengers may be concerned I have a virus. I refused to stay in the airport another minute than I had to. After boarding the plane my coughing subsided but didn't stop, as soon as they closed the cabin doors I could finally breath again. You might not think airplane air is good, but after experiencing what I did at JFK I was greatful for the Dry, but clean airplane air.
