I flew out of JFK on Friday 28th November on the 1630 KLM/NW flight. After checking in, I was asked to take my bag to security. I proceeded to the X-ray machine. Before handing over my bag to the security man, I attempted to push its telescopic handle down into its slot. As I did so, the security man began shouting at me: 'Stop, stop, stop!' I told him politely and calmly that there was no need to shout and that it was my bag and not his, but he only shouted at me some more. I could see that he was extremely agitated and so I complied with his request. But when I retrieved my bag from the carousel in London I found that the handle had been broken off. Given the thickness and strength of the metal it seems highly likely that it was damaged deliberately. Unfortunately I don't have the security man's name but I'm sure it would not be hard for the airport authorities to ascertain the identity of the gentleman responsible. At best his conduct was reprehensible.
Aggressive, rude security person
