3. For the NJ Transit bus, take the subway to 42nd Street, and enter the Port Authority Bus Terminal directly from the subway station. Follow signs for the NJ Transit Bus departures. For the NJ Transit train to Wood Ridge or Teterboro, take the "E" subway to 34th Street, and enter Penn (short for "Pennsylvania") Station directly from the subway station. Buy your train tickets at a staffed window or ticket-vending machine before boarding, to avoid paying higher, on-board fares. (The train trip to Wood Ridge or Teterboro will require a change of trains at Secaucus Junction Station.)

With all of that said, unless you are visiting friends or relatives in New Jersey, staying in Hasbrouck Heights is not the ideal way to vacation in New York City.
