One‑Stop Security Pilot
Pilot program allowing eligible international connecting passengers to bypass TSA re-screening.
Currently limited to American Airlines on Delta and Delta from London Heathrow.
After I checked in at JFK (Virgin) I had to take my baggage to a long X-Ray line. When finally at the end one simply drops one's bags and walks away. I asked the handler why I could not simply drop my bags at check-in, and have the conveyor there take them to some X-ray machine behind the scenes. He said they used to do it that way, and he had no idea why it was changed.
Why was it changed? It wastes a boatload of everyone's time.
Also, the subsequent line to get to the scanners at the gate was very long and badly managed, and the man checking passports appeared to be nearly innumerate and illiterate, slowing everyone down more as he tried to remember how many passports he had counted a few seconds previously.
Hello - I'm flying to Israel in July. I would like to bring a thin cushion stuffed with epsom salt for the plane ride (sounds strange, but I'm pregnant, and I hear that helps shield the fetus from flight radiation). My husband thinks this might trigger a security concern, since the salt is in a rather large crystal form. I could also bring the salt in a salt container, and pour it into the cushion after security, if that would make any difference. Any ideas? Thanks!
I dont believe they will allow you to take this on board. The only time that it is dangerous for a pregnant woman to fly is during solar flares when the radiation is up to 100x that of a chest x-ray. Check www.sec.noaa.gov for solar flare alerts. Other then that, I don't believe they will allow you to take crystallized ANYTHING on board for obvious reasons. Try looking for alternative protection via google.
i will be travelling through j f k on my way to a job as a chef in the carribean and want to spend a week in new york will i be allowed to take my knives in my baggage
why not mail the knives... then you don't have to worry about it.......................
i was just wondering if I can bring my laptop on the plane with me. with all the rules, I don't know what's allowed, what is not allowed.....thanks
You sure can. Just remember to put the laptop in a separate bin when it goes through screening. They may also take it to the side and power it on/search it again.

My sister in law lost her licence and has a flight out of jfk saturday night 6/7/08. what can she do to be able to make her flight?
Hi, I have a quick question for those using the JFK.
I will be coming from Europe and have about an hour between my flights. However, since the flights are booked separately and include several airlines, I have the feeling that I have to pick up my bags and then re-check them.
Any ideas how long that'll take in JFK in a normal Wednesday evening, after six p.m? Just wondering if I'm going to miss my connection because of luggage hauling. (Not to mention the flights might be miles apart - one is international arriving, other domestic departing... No idea)
All feedback is appreciated.
Am I allowed to bring with me 2(two) pieces of carry on luggages(each 10Kg) plus one small handbag inside the flight? JAL International flight departure from JFK.
Do you think I will be pass the security check X-ray officer by carrying these lugggages?
