John F. Kennedy International Airport is an international airport located in Jamaica, Queens, southeast of New York City.

History - Construction of the airport began in 1942 with modest ambitions. Only 1,000 acres (4 km²) of land on the site of Idlewild golf course were earmarked for use. The golf course provided the airport's original namesake, Idlewild Airport. First commercial flights began on July 1, 1948. The airport was formally dedicated as New York International Airport on July 31, 1948. It was re-dedicated on December 24, 1963 as John F. Kennedy International Airport, following action of the Mayor and Council of the City of New York, and a resolution of the Commissioners of the Port Authority. After the September 11, 2001 attacks, JFK was one of the first airports in the United States to be temporarily closed.

I am landing in terminal 5 and then taking an international flight on another carrier in terminal 4. where do I pick up my bags to get them to the 2nd carrier?

Go to baggage claim in T5, pick up bags, then take AirTrain on track 2 one stop to T4. Ask your 1st carrier if they have a baggage agreement with your 2nd carrier and can check your bags through to your final destination.

My wife is travelling from Mexico City and reaching JFK airport at Terminal 1. She needs to board her next flight to India from terminal 4. Since both are 2 different tickets, she couldn't get a through check0in for the baggages. Can you please tell me how she can move from Terminal 1 to 4 with 2 big baggages ?

She can rent a luggage cart at T1 customs, then proceed on AirTrain track 1 to T4.

Check your updated itinerary for arrival and departure gates. AA is T8. Use AirTrain to transfer between terminals.

On Friday the 08th of April I am landing at JFK AIRPORT from Geneva at 2h50 pm and then I am taking a plane taking off at 7 pm from Newark Terminal C.
What is the most convenient way to commute between both airport ?
Train through Penn station or is there any direct bus?

Taxi will be fastest, State Shuttle runs service between the two airports. You can take NJ Transit train from Penn Station but will take longer than taxi or shuttle.

No, JFK is a smoke-free airport. You must step outside the terminal to smoke.

Hi,
We are flying from Lima back to the UK,changing at JFK. We arrive at terminal 4 and leave from terminal 8 fifteen hours later.
Are we held "in transit" or provided we complete online visa requirements in advance can we leave the airport?

Once you clear US customs you are free to leave the airport. Be sure to arrive back at JFK at least two hours prior to your UK departure.

Hi, i land at jfk at 13.10 on 21st May and leave at 17.15 the same day to san fransisco is this enough time to see the statue of liberty?
