JFK Terminal 4 Map, Concourses and Gates
Terminal 4 is divided into Concourse A and Concourse B. Your boarding pass and airport monitors will show the current gate for your flight.
Concourse A includes gates in the A3–A21 range. Some of the gates are a longer walk from the security checkpoint, so allow enough time after clearing security.
Concourse B includes gates in the B18–B55 range. The farthest B gates can require a longer walk from security.

Getting Between Concourse A and B
Delta operates a free shuttle between the two Terminal 4 concourses after security. Shuttle stops are located near Gate B23, Gate B54 and Gate A9.
You do not need to pass through TSA security again when using the internal Terminal 4 shuttle. However, the shuttle is not necessarily faster than walking, so passengers should consider the distance, their gate and their mobility needs.
Departures from Terminal 4
If your flight departs from Terminal 4, confirm your airline and current gate before arriving at the airport. Check-in, baggage drop and gate information are controlled by the operating airline and can change.
Check-in and Baggage Drop
Follow the Terminal 4 signs for your airline's check-in and baggage-drop area. For codeshare flights, make sure you know which airline is actually operating the flight.
Security at Terminal 4
Terminal 4 offers several security options, including regular TSA screening, TSA PreCheck, CLEAR and T4 Reserve, subject to eligibility and availability.
T4 Reserve is a free security appointment service. Available time slots open seven days before travel, although availability can vary by airline and destination. If you use the service, follow the Reserve signs at Terminal 4 and present your confirmation as directed.
Getting to Your Gate
Terminal 4 has two concourses and some gates are a considerable walk from security. Check the airport monitors after security because gate assignments can change.
Use the gate walking-time table above as a general orientation, but allow additional time for security, airport congestion, walking with luggage and any changes to your gate.
Arrivals at Terminal 4
Domestic Arrivals
Domestic passengers arriving at Terminal 4 proceed toward baggage claim and the terminal's ground transportation areas. If your checked baggage is missing or damaged, contact the airline operating your flight first.
International Arrivals
International passengers must complete the applicable U.S. immigration and customs procedures before leaving the international arrivals area.
If you are connecting to another flight after an international arrival, allow additional time for immigration, baggage collection, baggage recheck and security screening.
Eligible international travelers can also use Mobile Passport Control where available.
Baggage and Lost Property
For checked baggage that did not arrive, contact your airline. Items left on an aircraft are also normally handled by the airline.
For personal items lost elsewhere in the airport or at a security checkpoint, use the appropriate JFK or TSA lost-and-found service.
Connecting Flights at Terminal 4
Connecting Within Terminal 4
If both flights use Terminal 4, check whether your gates are in Concourse A or Concourse B. You can walk between the concourses or use the free post-security Delta shuttle.
You do not need to clear TSA again when moving between the two Terminal 4 concourses through the internal post-security connection.
Changing to Another JFK Terminal
If your connecting flight departs from another JFK terminal, follow the airport signs to the AirTrain. AirTrain connects JFK's passenger terminals and terminal-to-terminal travel is free.
International Arrivals Connecting to Another Flight
Passengers arriving internationally and connecting onward in the United States generally need to:
- Complete immigration and customs procedures.
- Collect checked baggage.
- Recheck baggage for the connecting flight.
- Proceed through security again.
If you booked separate tickets, you may also need to complete a new check-in and baggage-drop process with the second airline.

AirTrain connects Terminal 4 with the other JFK passenger terminals and with the Jamaica, Howard Beach and Federal Circle stations.
