History - Construction of the airport began in 1942 with modest ambitions. Only 1,000 acres (4 km²) of land on the site of Idlewild golf course were earmarked for use. The golf course provided the airport's original namesake, Idlewild Airport. First commercial flights began on July 1, 1948. The airport was formally dedicated as New York International Airport on July 31, 1948. It was re-dedicated on December 24, 1963 as John F. Kennedy International Airport, following action of the Mayor and Council of the City of New York, and a resolution of the Commissioners of the Port Authority. After the September 11, 2001 attacks, JFK was one of the first airports in the United States to be temporarily closed.

My wife is travelling from Mexico City and reaching JFK airport at Terminal 1. She needs to board her next flight to India from terminal 4. Since both are 2 different tickets, she couldn't get a through check0in for the baggages. Can you please tell me how she can move from Terminal 1 to 4 with 2 big baggages ?

time to collect luggage, clear immigration and customs
I will arrive from Orlando to New York Terminal 8 on AA at 1115, then leaving from Terminal 1 on Korean Air to Hong Kong at 1400 same day. May I know how long it normally takes (1) from disembarkation of AA to picking up the luggage from the AA flight at Terminal 8, (2) proceding from Terminal 8 to Terminal 1 to check in for the KE flight? Do I need to worry if there is only 2.75 hours to make the transfer? Thanks for advising.
