Terminal 7 Map, Gates and Wayfinding

Terminal 7 is relatively compact. JFK currently estimates that all gates are approximately 1–5 minutes from security.
JFK estimates approximately 1–5 minutes from the security area to all Terminal 7 gates. Use airport monitors and the current JFK interactive map for exact gate directions.
Finding Your Gate
Gate assignments can change during the airport operating day. After security, check the airport information screens and follow the signs to your current gate.
Because Terminal 7 is compact, passengers generally have a relatively short walk from security to their gate. However, allow additional time for security screening, passengers with mobility needs and changes to your flight or gate.
Accessibility at Terminal 7
Passengers who need wheelchair assistance should contact their airline before traveling whenever possible. Wheelchair assistance can also be requested at designated desks or airline check-in counters inside the terminal.
Departures from Terminal 7
Check-in and Baggage Drop
Check-in and baggage-drop procedures are controlled by the airline operating your flight. Check your airline app, reservation or boarding information before arriving and follow the signs and airport screens inside Terminal 7.
Airlines may have different baggage deadlines, document requirements and check-in procedures, especially for international flights. Do not rely on a generic Terminal 7 check-in cutoff.
Security
After checking in and dropping your baggage, follow signs to the TSA security area. Security procedures and available lanes can change, so check current airport information before traveling.
Families and passengers requiring assistance should follow the current airport and airline instructions for priority or accessibility services.
After Security
- Check the airport monitors for your gate.
- Follow the signs to your gate.
- Allow approximately 1–5 minutes for the normal walk from security to the gate area.
- Monitor your flight for gate or schedule changes.
Arrivals at Terminal 7
Domestic Arrivals
Domestic passengers arriving at Terminal 7 should follow signs toward baggage claim and the terminal exits.
If checked baggage does not arrive, contact the airline operating your flight. The airline is responsible for delayed, damaged or missing checked baggage.
International Arrivals
International passengers must complete the applicable U.S. immigration and customs procedures before leaving the international arrivals process.
If you have an onward domestic connection, allow time for immigration, baggage collection, baggage recheck when required and TSA security screening again.
Lost Baggage vs. Lost Property
| Problem | Who to contact first |
|---|---|
| Checked baggage did not arrive | Your airline |
| Item left on the aircraft | Your airline |
| Item lost inside the terminal | JFK lost and found |
| Item lost at a TSA checkpoint | TSA/JFK lost-property process |
Connecting Flights from Terminal 7
Connecting Within Terminal 7
If both flights use Terminal 7, check your next gate on the airport monitors and follow the signs. The compact terminal layout means JFK estimates approximately 1–5 minutes from security to all gates.
Changing to Another JFK Terminal
If your connecting flight departs from another JFK terminal, use the AirTrain. AirTrain connects the passenger terminals and terminal-to-terminal travel is free.
For detailed instructions, see our JFK AirTrain guide.
International to Domestic Connections
Passengers arriving internationally and continuing to a domestic flight should generally expect to:
- Complete U.S. immigration procedures.
- Collect checked baggage.
- Complete customs procedures.
- Recheck baggage when required.
- Pass through TSA security again.
If you are traveling on separate tickets, you may also need to check in and drop baggage again with the second airline.
Terminal 7 and Terminal 6
Terminal 6 is a separate new terminal project being developed as part of JFK's major redevelopment. Terminal 7 remains an operating terminal during the transition.
Do not assume that an airline has moved from Terminal 7 to Terminal 6 simply because the Terminal 6 project is underway. Confirm the terminal for your specific flight shortly before traveling.
Transportation to and from Terminal 7
AirTrain JFK
AirTrain connects Terminal 7 with the other JFK passenger terminals, parking areas, Federal Circle, Howard Beach and Jamaica.
- Between JFK terminals: AirTrain travel is free.

Licensed taxis are available at JFK. Follow the official airport signs after arriving at Terminal 7 and use the designated taxi pickup area.

Rental Cars and Hotel Shuttles
Most rental car companies and many airport-area hotel shuttles use Federal Circle. Take the AirTrain to Federal Circle and follow the signs for the appropriate rental-car or hotel-shuttle service.
Terminal 7 Pickup and Drop-off
Rideshare Pickup
Passengers arriving at Terminal 7 who want to use Uber, Lyft or another ride app should follow current airport signs and their app's pickup instructions. The current Terminal 7 rideshare pickup location is at Howard Beach AirTrain Station.
Passengers should not assume that their driver can meet them directly outside Terminal 7 for a normal rideshare pickup.
ADA-accessible rideshares remain available at the terminal for passengers who need accessible pickup.
Drop-off for Departing Passengers
Passengers being driven to Terminal 7 for departure can still be dropped off in front of the terminal. Follow current roadway signs and allow additional time because of construction-related traffic changes.
Road Access
Terminal 7 is accessed from the JFK Expressway. Current construction has changed traffic patterns around the terminal, so follow airport detour signs rather than relying only on older GPS instructions.
For detailed driver instructions, see our JFK pickup and drop-off guide.
Parking Near Terminal 7
The current JFK parking information recommends booking parking in advance because airport parking capacity is limited by construction and traffic conditions.
Terminal 8's Red Garage is a current parking option to consider, with AirTrain access to the terminals. Check availability and current access instructions before traveling.
For current parking options, reservations and airport parking information, see our JFK parking guide.
JFK Terminal 7 Lounges

Terminal 7 and the New Terminal 6
Terminal 7 is part of the larger JFK redevelopment project that includes the construction of a new Terminal 6.
The Terminal 6 project is being developed on the site of the former Terminal 6 and extends into the area occupied by the existing Terminal 7. The long-term plan calls for Terminal 7 to be decommissioned and demolished as the Terminal 6 project progresses.
Because the redevelopment schedule and airline transitions can change, do not rely on an old Terminal 7 closing date. Instead, confirm your airline and terminal shortly before travel.

- Terminal 7 is currently operating.
- Terminal 6 is a separate new terminal project.
